or people who are just annoyed with un proper grammar.

My interests were never in the medical sciences nurses, doctors, and especially not midwives. Yet here I was in my blue and white uniform, with the clean cut hat sitting comfortably on my head.

Standing on the old worn floor I took a deep breath in, it smelled sanitary yet felt like home at the same time. Odd, I was sure I was going to feel out of place. Hmmm.

Was I really excited to be where I was? No. No I wasn't living out my dreams of archeaology, but I needed a job so my dreams of finding some long lost royalty in Egypt, would just have to be put on hold. At least for now.

How did I choose this job out of the not so many that were available for a woman, or ones that just did not interest me enough to bother. Actually I didn't choose it.

Let me explain, my very good friend Sarah felt it was her job to find me a career quickly, and something that I could be half good at. So I took her word, that I'd be in the good hands of the nuns. Which to be quite honest scared me a little, I mean I believe in God, but I was a Roman Catholic. It being the mid thirties in England I was almost certain these Anglican nuns would disapprove, maybe even punish me.

Ha now I was being paranoid.

Just as I was thinking of planning an escape a shrill and dainty ladies voice called out "Hello, dear is that you?" I looked up to see a small and skinny nun looking at me, confusion and curiosity dancing in her eyes. "Well dear me, I thought you were twentie, not fifteen!" She said, with a little chuckle.

I stared at her dumbfounded " ye yes, yes, I am twentie, but...well..I've been told I look younger then I should". I stuttered, and smiled meekly.

She smiled sweetly and was about to say something when I heard another voice. The voice was deeper, but a woman's non the less. "Speak up, our ears aren't what they used to be, and don't slouch." Said the voice as I turned to see another nun. This one was taller then the other one and also bigger.

The smaller one turned around in astonishment with a bit of a gasp, probably as stunned as I was. Once she had composed herself she introduced her and the sister. "Oh this is sister Ada, and I'm sister Colette, we are very pleased to meet you ahhh, umm..."
"Maria" I answered.

"Why of course, of course. I knew that." Sister Colette said trying to sound confident.

"No, no you did not."  Sister Ada argued, clearly amused at sister Colette's confusion.

"Oh well you must come and meet the rest of us, the other girls are dying to meet you, along with our novice sister Evelyn. Sadly sister Gretchen is gone, visiting her sick niece." Said sister Colette. Her smile never seemed to leave her face, sister Ada however didn't smile as much, and gave me the impression she wasn't to fond of me.

Judging by how they both looked I guessed that sister Colette was in her mid fifties, and sister Ada in her early fifties
Sister Colette came over and took one of my bags and led me upstairs to my room, well it wasn't really my room. I would be sharing it with another midwife. Oh god I hope she won't be a prude, I thought while looking at the second bed.

"I'll leave you to get settled before you meet the rest of the girls." She said setting down my bag and quietly closing my door.

So I started exploring, I found my bed neatly made with another change of my uniform. I looked around trying to observe my environment, old wood floors, pale yellow walls, two bed stands one for each bed, and a beautiful window.

I plunked myself down on my bed, making very loud creaks as I tried to get comfortable. "How did I get here." I sighed quietly to myself.
I quickly unpacked and prepared myself, ready for what ever was to happen.

I walk out of my room into the hall down the stairs, and into the lobby of St Jane of Valois. It was an old building, but beautiful, I always loved old things and still did. Sadly it didn't make me very popular at school, I didn't care though. I was here to start a new life, if I liked it or not.

My thoughts were then suddenly interrupted by a scream then a crash coming from the kitchen, witch gave me a horrible fright. I began running, halfway there I tripped skinning my knees badly. I slowly got up, I would have been very embarrassed if I weren't alone. I brushed of the dust and began to run again until I reached the door frame, I leaned against it, trying to catch my breath, I looked up. All I saw was red, glass, and a girl on the floor.

I tried to stand up straight, and steady my breathing, but... All of a sudden I felt extremely dizzy, and collapsed bumping my head on the tiled floor witch didn't help. I was flipped on my back, and saw all these faces staring down at me. There was some mumbling, gasping, and the occasional yelling. Then I shut my eyes and drifted away to lala land.

Not my greatest moment.
