I slowly came to. "Ugh" I groaned when I sat up, I had forgotten that my head hit the floor pretty hard. I looked around and noticed that I was in my bed, but how did I get there. I put my feet on the ground, steadying myself on the bed post. When out of no where this ungodly sound floated into my room.

"Bloody hell." I mumbled, I realized it was the nuns. What where they trying to do, raise the anti christ?

I wobbled to the bathroom holding a change of clothes. I would at least try and be presentable the first time I met them, you know....without the fainting part. Then a problem presented itself, I didn't really know where the bathroom was. I couldn't ask anyone while looking this atrocious, my hair all matted, wrinkled clothes, and smudged lipstick.

I decided to look around, maybe I could find it on my own? So I slowly started my search for the bathroom, opening and closing doors carefully, doing my best not to make any noise. I shut one door a little to hard causing hard thud, the singing stopped immediately.

Then I heard foot steps coming my way, so I ran to the nearest room, and locked it. Leaning against the door I held my breath as the footsteps passed me. once I was sure that they were gone I let out a heavy breath.

I cracked the door a bit, just enough to see if anyone was still outside. When I decided the coast was clear I made my way back to my room, doing my best to be as quiet as I could possibly be. When I reached the door I realized that I didn't even go to the bathroom. I was so busy trying to hide from the nuns and other midwives that I didn't even remember about my original mission.

I let out a heavy sigh.

I started making my way to where the nuns were. I didn't really know where they were so I followed their ungodly voices till I reached a small chapel that was tucked away at the end of the entrance hallway.

I knocked on the old door. No answer. So I opened the door slowly, and peeked through. They were all lined up backs towards me. I noticed a postulant way over at the side who couldn't stand still, I thought maybe she would be helpful. So I crept up to her tapping her shoulder lightly. She turned around wearing a bored expression, but smirked when she saw me.

Was I that bad looking? Probably.

I didn't want to make any noise so I mouthed 'help' to her, and signaled for her to come with me. She followed, and when we were just outside the chapel she burst out laughing.

'What in the hell happened to you?' she asked while still laughing hysterically. Her face was turning as red as a tomato and if I wasn't so annoyed I would have been a little concerned.

'Long story' I mumbled 'Could you point me in the direction of a bathroom please.'

She smiled and pointed me back down the hallway, to the fifth door on the left. 'Thank God' I said under my breath as I walked away from the chapel and towards the bathroom.

After I had freshened up I returned to my room to go over what I would say. It was a habit I had and it helped me calm down. Once I had figured out what to say I made my way to the kitchen to get something to eat, I was hungry from the long and agonizing trip.

When I walked in I saw some midwives chatting and the nuns sitting around and knitting. I noticed sister Collete and Siste Adda from all the nuns. No one had seen me yet, so I made a loud coughing noise in hopes someone would notice. Everybody's head turned in my direction. Maybe this was a dumb idea I thought, because it certainly was embarrasing.

I said a meek hello to everybody in the room. Sister Collete had joined me to introduce me to the midwives. There was Rachelle who was a little short had pale skin and dark brown hair, then there was Ellen who had a blond bob and blue eyes, Anette who had long black hair was of medium height and a little larger build. Each girl had a kind smile on and seemed welcoming. I was informed that some of the other girls were out on their daily rounds and that we would meet for dinner.

After some small talk the girls took me up to my room for some drinks and fun, it was really nice to feel accepted by them. Maybe this wouldn't be too bad I hoped, they had put on some music and poured champion into glasses and passed them around. Through the night we shared loud giggles, funny jigs, and rosy cheeks.

As the festivities slowed, mostly due to the fear that one of the scarier sisters would knock on the door, we each said our good nights and prepared for a nights rest. I liked the girls already but only a full day of work would really show me what they were like, but I wouldn't worry about it yet.

With a content smile I new this is where I belonged, at least for now. Shut my eyes and fell asleep.
