Rene woke up from her nightmare with a start, her chest heaving with difficulty in breathing, her heart beating at a rate of a million miles.

She had the nightmare throughout her life, ever since her parents were killed, but the new variation added so much more pain to her ever present agony. To see the visual of her being the one who had killed her parents... Or even accepting the fact that she had become exactly what had killed them... Their blood was on her hands as is. To find herself holding the knife as well...

Taking a deep breath, Rene centered herself to her situation. She had already wasted so many years just visiting this same cycle, again and again, that she knew once she let herself whallow over the guilt, she would not be able to come out of it.

Rene got out of the bed and went through her daily routine in the attached bathroom and went out of her room to find Maria already present and waiting for her on a chair against the opposite wall.

"You are late." Maria said, standing up from her post.

"Why didn't you wake me up?" Rene asked, maybe she could have escaped her nightmare's ending if she had been woken up a bit earlier.

"Because you were screaming so much. Do you think I will even go near an unconscious something that could potentially kill me if she so much as swiped her hand while turning in her bed?" Maria asked, not really expecting an answer, before starting to walk towards what Rene could only assume to be the training facility.

They entered a large hall titled "training hall". It seemed to be right in the middle of the building, if the proportions were what Rene had calculated them to be on the part of the dome visible from the outside. On the inside, Dome was fitted with what appeared to be a lot of projectors pointing in multiple directions.

The projectors came to life at a verbal command from Maria, who guided Rene towards the weapons initiary and said, "Choose."

This feels way too much like a chest of quest item, Rene thought.

The first thing she Rene went for was a semi automatic. Maria grimaced a bit at Rene's choice before saying, "You will not be able to shoot twice using it."

"What do you mean?"

"As soon as the first bullet goes bang, the vampire, if they are hit, will run for cover knowing that the bullets can give them grief in any amount."

"Really, so am I supposed to be the one choosing my weapon, or am I here so you can tell me the best choice that I can make?" Rene asked Maria, frustrated.

Maria, however, grabbed the chance and said, "I am so glad you asked!"

Then with an amount of enthusiasm that did not suit her choice at all, she pulled out a sword from the bunch. Rene looked at the thing wearily, "You know, at least with the semi-automatic, I will have a chance to run before the vampire gets to me. With this, it will start as a close combat."

Maria shook her head and said, "Aren't you cocky about your abilities? You need to get over the one guy you injured in the hand to hand combat. He wasn't even fully turned yet. He would have to drink a lot of blood before the turning was complete. His strength was not complete."

Rene opened her mouth to argue, but Maria continued, "And if you are going to talk about the representative, I am pretty sure he didn't even try to kill you. YOu wouldn't have survived with a vampire who was as aware of his strength as him if he used his full strength. He probably wanted to keep you alive to get information out of you before the guards intercepted."

Rene took the sword from Maria mumbling, "Does everyone here know what happened over there?"

"There are complete reports of every incident. Specific employees in the company just to write and double check the reports with sources. I would have to read to through all your stats either way because I am-"

"Okay, okay!" Rene said, cutting Maria off, "Please stop with the exposition already. and let's get started."

Maria nodded and said, "YOu can put the sword down for now and we can try with the semi first, if you want."

Rene looked at Maria like she was bonkers before deciding that she wasn't in the mood, "No. Let's get started with the sword."

Maria nodded and launched into a lecture about the sword Rene was holding, saying, "You need to understand your weapon before you are able to use it. The sword you are currently holding is made half of steel, a quarter part of silver, and the rest quarter is made using the Fasemanite, the material that vampire fangs are made of. The three are combined-"

Rene listened to the entire lecture with rapt attention. Not listening to the last one given to her before was the reason she was in this predicament in the first place.

After the lecture was over, Maria showed Rene around the training facility, which for now was exclusively for Rene's use.

The ground of the training facility was actually interactive, and what Rene had earlier thought of as tiles were actually light sensors. When the projectors on top were used to create a 3D image, the sensors on the bottom were activated to pinpoint where the illusionary target had been hit.

Maria had Rene practicing with her sword on these, before she presented Rene with a dummy mockup of a vampire. Since the dummy's could not be moved as fast as necessary to stimulate fights with vampires, the illusions 3D projections were for practicing speed and the dummy mockup was for practicing strength and techniques that are required.

Once Maria had told Rene how everything worked and such, an instructor came in to teach Rene about the techniques and Maria went off to the observation room to record and send a statistical report of Rene's progress in the theoretical department. Practical progress reports were sent automatically by the computers, so that was not something that Maria could oversee, either way.
