King Grivern of Cairn was scared.
He was scared of anything different,
Anything out of his control,
Anything magic,
Anything beautiful.
He was so cowardly in his ways that he decided that anything magic was unlawful and wrong.
So he called upon his Royal Guard and tasked them to hatch a plan. A plan so evil, so beastly it would be remembered for years to come.
The Guards began spreading word that anyone with magic in their blood were being rewarded for their talents and should come to the Kings Court for their wonderful prize.
So, as was planned, all people with magical heritage of all ages and genders gathered in the court buzzing with anticipation to see what their reward could be.
The doors slammed shut.
The people's voices died down. Their excitement becoming fear.
Suddenly all Along the walls hatches just large enough for a hand to fit through flipped open reveling at least two dozen flaming crossbows.
"FIRE AT WILL" Bellowed a deep, sinister voice as 24 crossbows unleashed fire tipped arrows upon the whole magical population of the Kingdom of Cairn.
