The Potters

You know how Sirius' parents (Orion and Walburga Black) are abusive and hateful? Well, Sirius of course doesn't go back home for holidays that aren't the summer ones, not wanting to face them but not knowing they are unnaturally cruel until halfway through 2nd year.

He didn't speak to anyone about it, having been mentally abused into not saying anything. Instead, he always stayed at Hogwarts, sometimes with his friends, sometimes without. His friends never knew what the problem was or why he stayed at Hogwarts but they stayed with him to keep him company.

That was, until James invited him over to his place. Sirius was, of course, excited and overjoyed having met Fleamont and Euphemia Potter before, at the Hogwarts Express Platform. They took him in gladly, fussing over him like dotting parents.

When they found out about the scars they put two and two together, realising that he was abused at home, sometimes for no reason. They were absolutely appalled, pitying Sirius and how he had been used and treated.

When Sirius found out that it was not okay for parents to do what his parents were doing, he was in a state of disbelief and fear, having not known the terrifying truth and he fled to the room he shared with James. After a few hours, he calmed down (with the help of James) but he was still scared and shocked so the Potters decided to take him to town.

"You can buy whatever you want Sirius. Whatever you want. We have the money and you have the needs of a child. Go wild, honey." Said Mrs Potter, smiling sadly down at the small, black haired child before her. He had calmed down a lot but he still wasn't quite back to himself.

Sirius shook his head. "N-no. I don't want to be a pain Mrs." He said quietly. Mr Potter shook his head and said gruffly, "Go boy. It will make all of us feel better. Won't it son?" He looked down at James who was almost as freaked out as his best friend.

As his father looked, James seemed to get a hold on himself as he said with a forced smile, "Yeah. Dad is right. Come on Sirius. Let's go. I'll show you were the best stuff is." He grabbed his friends hand and pulled him towards a nearby shop.

"What are we going to do with him, Fleamont?" Asked Mrs Potter, her eyes brimmed with tears as soon as the boys were gone. "The poor boy! I guess we could keep him but I'm scared of what his parents would do..." Her husband nodded, his eyes on the boys that were discussing the sweets in the shop they were standing outside of. "We can't let him stay for the summers. If it was possible we certainly would but I'm afraid that it's impossible."

He sighed, still looking at the boys who were now entering the shop. He turned to Mrs Potter once they were inside. "Look, honey, the real issue is, what are we going to do about James? Once he tells the others, and they do deserve to know, then what will happen?" Euphemia shook her head sadly. "I don't know. There will be disbelief and anger for sure. I worry though, for the other Black children. I mean, if the kids can't vent their anger out on the parents they will most certainly do it elsewhere and where better but on the kids of the two that faulted? You get my meaning?" The man nodded.

"But this isn't our problem I'm afraid. We both know that so we should stop fretting. Come on, those boys are troublemakers and I don't want them alone in that shop for too long."

They entered the shop to find James and Sirius looking at all the sweets in awe. A kindly woman was telling them about all the different kinds of magical chocolates. Both parents smiled. "You OK there boys?" Mr Potter asked. James nodded. The lady however, frowned slightly looking at Sirius and then at the the married couple. She didn't say anything but it was a bit unnerving.

"Uhm. Who's this kind lady?" Mrs Potter said, smiling but standing very straight. "My name is Mrs Taylor. I was helping your two boys." The lady answered, unaware of what she had just indicated.

No one said anything for a hot second. Sirius was red with embarrassment and James' eyes were wide. Mr and Mrs Potter were looking at Mrs Taylor in a daze. The lady seemed uncomfortable. "Did I say anything wrong?" She said, her voice slightly panicked.

Sirius seemed to shake himself. "N-no Mrs. Its just- I'm not-" He got cut off by Mrs Potter who said in a kindly voice, "No, everything is quite alright. Thank you for helping them." James smiled wide. "Yeah. Me and my brother are really glad."

Mrs Taylor gave a sigh of relief. "I'm sorry. Its just the eyes, the colour of them are different from yours." Mr Potter laughed. "Your not the first person to notice and point that out. It's happened before. He has his eyes after his grandfather." His smile was wide.

Sirius didn't say anything but he was very red. Mr Potter hadn't technically lied. After all, his grandfathers eyes had been grey but he had said it as if he was talking about his own father.

He had spoken about Sirius as if about his own son. Why? The 3 of them could of told the lady the truth but they hadn't. James had even called him his brother. Then he realised. They loved him enough to tell this innocent and heartwarming lie.

"I'll leave now." Mrs Taylor said. "If you need me, then I'll be nearby." She walked off then, leaving the family behind.

"Why?" Sirius asked as soon as she was gone. "Why did you tell her that- that we-" the words got stuck in his throat. Everyone knew what he meant anyway. All 3 Potters smiled. "We said it because you deserve better then what your real family gives you and, well, we thought it would make you feel better." Mrs Potter said. Her husband and son nodded. The other boy sighed but smiled. "It worked. Come on though. You said that I can buy what I want."

Ugh. This part is terribly written and repetitive but I didn't know how else to write it. I based it off a headcannon so I only had a few sentence to write it off of and writing it all was hard as balls (not sexual).
