Waking up to loud knocking is never ideal. Especially when it's your boyfriend who bailed on you last night. When I swung my door open in annoyance I saw Theo standing at my door with these red roses, that I fucking hated and an apologetic look on his face."Thank you, Theo." I accepted the roses.
"I'm so so sorry about last night Gustine." I hated that nickname he gave me. I felt like a pet hamster and not like someone's girlfriend. Theo walked in while I took the flowers to the kitchen.
"It's fine." I mumbled.
"I'll make it up to you. Tonight, actually!" He waited for my face to light up with excitement but that did not happen.
"Tonight won't work."
"Why? Is it work? I'll go down there and talk to them if I have to."
"No. I'm gonna show my new roommate around the apartment."
"You found a new roommate?!" He sounded almost dumbfounded by my statement.
"Yeah, this guy stopped by yesterday and asked about the ad for the apartment so I gave it to him." I state more nonchalant than Theo would have liked.
"A guy?!"
"Yup. He was the only non weirdo."
"I don't know how I feel about it."
"Well, that's a personal issue. Isn't it, babe?"
I turned on my heels to go get ready for work. Theo walked into my room while I stood in my closet getting dressed. I pulled out a light pink slip dress with a white corset and matching white heels while he sat on my bed and tried to argue with me about living with a man.
"Theodore, don't argue with me about this. I think Bucky will be a great roommate."
Shit.
"Bucky? As in Bucky Barnes? Like The Winter Soldier?" Terror cover Theo's face.
"Maybe." I said putting my hair back with a hair claw trying to ignore Theo.
"He's a murder! An assassin! Augustine, are you crazy? What will your mother think?"
"Theo, I don't care! I'm a twenty six year old, grown woman I make my own decisions!" I snapped at my boyfriend. I don't understand why he can't trust me. We have been together for three years and I have always trusted him around the women he works with.
When I went to make my lunch I kicked Theo out of the apartment. I was already annoyed with him and was prepared to just forgive him and move on from last night but he just kept pushing my buttons. I got a text from Bucky when I walked into my office.
Bucky: Hey Augustine, I was wondering what time I should come over?
Me: six is fine with me, Bucky.
Bucky: Okay, Thanks. I'll see you tonight. Have a good day at work.
Me: Thank you. See you tonight.
The work day wasn't too bad since I get to hide in my office for the most part. I wrote an article about why low rise pants are making a comeback then had lunch with my friend Kendall who works down the hall. We sat in my office and talked while eating our food.
"August, don't you think it's a little crazy to live with an ex assassin?" Kendall asked while she sat across from my desk.
"I guess so but he went to Wakanda for help with the trauma. He's fine." I stabbing my fork into my salad.
