♕ Reina Simmons ♕
"Don't you think you guys should have done that from the beginning of the school year?"
Here I was in the main office arguing how they should have updated my schedule from when it was my first day of being a senior. I got comfortable with my classes and once I was comfortable with a routine, I hated anything that would change it.
"Ms. Simmons, we just want to put you in better classes they're the same just more advance. These will look good on your application for college." The lady explained with my schedule in hand.
"I appreciate that you're calling me smart but don't you think they'll question 'Why wasn't she in these classes in the first place?'. Plus, you guys don't ever change students schedules like that." I explained myself.
She handed me the new schedule. I took it in my hands and gave it a glance. "Simmons I truly do understand your frustration. Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do now. New transfers had come in and were put into your classes, which means we needed to take a few people out because they were too full. We looked at each students grades and yours is outstanding, along with a few others."
I let out a sigh, defeated. "I mean what else could I do, now."
"You don't have to start today, you can start tomorrow. Your new teachers are aware of that and your recent teachers understand your situation as well, so they won't be giving you work. You can go back to lunch. Have a nice afternoon." She gave me a small smile.
I turned myself around to hide my face and walk out the office. "You too." My voice was laced with annoyance. The reason why I turned around was to hide the rude look on my face because I had to switch my classes now but not even my voice could hide the attitude I had now.
I was walking back to the cafeteria from where I left Asia.
"They changed my damn schedule." I placed the schedule on the table.
She took the paper in her hands and scanned over it.
"We barely have any classes now." She took a minute to speak again. "But, Reina these classes are for like those really smart people. These can be good but also stressful."
"I could care less if they're good or not, Asia. You know I hate it when I'm set for a routine and somehow a big change happens to it." I pointed towards the paper.
"Reina, it can't be that bad. Look at least we still have lunch and math together." Asia tried to lighten the mood.
I placed my head on the table into my arms.
"Are you starting today?" Asia asked.
I raised my head up. "No, the office said I can start tomorrow. I think they did that because I also have to change my locker, as well."
"You'll get use to it like always. You adapt quick Reina. Even though our lockers aren't near and we barely have classes together, it's not like we won't still enjoy our senior year."
I gave her a look.
"Reina, you do know you need to enjoy your last year in high school right? You can't always stay home like a loner and not wanna go out. We're half way into the school year already you need to stop stressing about big changes. Worry about that when the time comes. You're seventeen about to turn eighteen. Start living your life for once."
Asia was right but honestly I was just use to having one friend and being antisocial. This summer I had spent it at home and Asia would drag me out to actually go out with her. My social anxiety had gotten worse since then. People have tried to talk to me at school but, not that I mean too, I always gave a 'leave me alone' vibe. Maybe, because I didn't know how to talk to others besides Asia and my family.
