"I'm leaving in a second, Auntie!" I yelled out as I tried to shove my left foot into my shoe, leaning on the table near the front door.
"Bye sweetie! Have fun at your new school."
A smile made its way onto my face, "I'll try my best." My smile dropped, "but remember, not a word of this to my brother or my parents alright?"
"Ma'am, yes ma'am", she said, passing me a piece of toast smeared with jelly as I stood up and rolled my eyes at her response while grabbing the toast. I thanked her and waved as I made my way out of the door.
I wandered down the hill while searching for the school. "I know it's around here somewhere..." I saw a group of students walking with the same uniform as me. Bingo. I followed from a distance and the school soon came into view.
After going to the staff room for my schedule I made my way to the third floor of the building. I went toward my designated classroom and saw a teacher waiting outside the door. "Ah, you must be the new student! give me one moment once class starts then I'll call you in."
I nodded, shuffling my feet side to side while I waited a couple minutes for class to start. Eventually I heard my teacher yell out "Come on in!" I took a quick breath and swept my light brown hair to the side and walked in
"This is our new student. Would you like to introduce yourself?" His hand motioned for me to stand by his side. I heard people already muttering under their breath.
"I'm Oikawa Miko, thank you in advance for taking care of me," I said lightly as I slightly bowed toward the class.
With more whispers and my teacher's nod of approval he told me to "take a seat next to Sugawara-san". A boy with light grey hair and a beauty mark under his eye raised his hand up so I could see him. With a quick exchange of friendly smiles I sat in the seat to the left of him.
"I'm Sugawara Koushi, it's nice to meet you, Oikawa-san."
"Please call me Miko! No need to be formal with me," I sent another smile his way.
"Well, Miko, it's only fair for you to call me Koushi as well then. Also... if you don't mind me asking, do you have a brother?" He asked with an eyebrow raised.
"I do," I sighed. "A little brother, Oikawa Tooru. I'm taking it you recognized my name?"
He gave a lopsided grin, "That I did, but I can definitely see the resemblance in you two. I know him from volleyball, we played a practice match against him not too long ago.
My eyes seemed to sparkle, "you play volleyball?"
"I'm the vice captain of the boys' team," he said with a chuckle.
"Do you mind if I watch your guys practice sometime?"
He seemed to be caught off guard by my question. "Um-" before he could answer he got cut off by the teacher telling us to stop talking. I turned toward the front of the class with my head in my hand and took occasional notes. But I continued my routine of dozing off in class. I aced all my subjects anyway.

It was finally lunch time after a few hours of boring classes. I pulled out me bento as girls seemed to swarm my desk, asking if the rumor my brother was Oikawa Tooru is true. I managed to satisfy them with a few short answers that basically said 'leave me alone'.
Once they dispersed I saw Koushi smiling at me with this lunch in hand.
"Mind if I join you?"
"Not at all," I said, motioning to one of the empty seats near me. I looked behind Koushi and saw a darker haired boy. "Hello, I'm sure you heard my introduction earlier, but I'm Oikawa Miko."
He smiled in return. "I'm Sawamura Daichi. Nice to meet you."
"This is the captain of the volleyball team." Koushi said while patting Sawamura-san's shoulder. My eyes sparkled again.
"Really? What position do you play?" He rubbed the back of his neck, "Ano, I'm more of an all-around player for the most part."
I hummed, content with his answer and turned, "What position do you play, Koushi-san?" By this time he had already sat down in the seat in front of me, facing my desk.
He finished swallowing a bite of food as he goes to answer. "Well I play as a setter, but I don't know if I'll be playing as a regular this year..."
"Even if you're not a regular, no position is for nothing and each has a purpose for the team. Remember that."
He also hummed in response with a small smile.
"Oikawa-san, would you want to come watch practice after school?"
"Please, the both of you, just call me Miko-san, that's what everyone calls me. And you really wouldn't mind me going to watch?"
They both shook their heads, "We'd love to have you, Miko-san," Daichi-san said.
I got excited. "Well, that's just going to make the school day longer because I'm pumped up now! I can't wait though, thanks guys." We spent the rest of lunch making small talk and discussing things around the school.
~~~~~~
After school the two boys told me to meet them at the gym. I smiled and jogged up to them with a skip in my step. "Are you ready, Miko-san?"
"Aye, aye, co-captain," I saluted him.
I was stopped in my tracks when two boys shouted from across the gym, "Girl!" One was a short boy with gelled up hair and a guy with a buzzcut.
"Everyone, this is Miko-san. She just transferred here." Daichi-san introduced me. "She wanted to watch us practice today; she's a fan of volleyball."
"I was on of the best setters at my old school!" I pointed at myself proudly.
"You didn't tell us you played setter too!" Koushi exclaimed, his eyes widening.
"It never came up," I shrugged with a sly smile.
"Well maybe you could teach our newest setter sometime. At the moment he is at after school lessons with our decoy."
I nodded, "I'd love to teach him." "We have a practice match this Saturday if you'd like to come watch us," a man with bleached blonde hair, pulled back into a headband, said."Really? Just like that?"
He nodded. "Just like that. I'm still new to coaching these kids and I'd like an outside perspective on the team. I'm Coach Ukai."
I bowed my head in recognition, "Ukai-san, huh? Quite the rep you're living up to." His eye twitched slightly at my comment.
"There's also a training camp during summer break, before the match if you'd also like to attend that. Like I said, I'd like an outside look at the team and you could help around the practice."
I nodded, "I'll be glad to attend and help."
"Where did you transfer from, Miko-san? I haven't seen you around before." The baldheaded boy said.
"Oh I transferred from Shiratorizawa." Everyone seemed dumbfounded for a few moments.
"WHY DID YOU TRANSFER FROM A POWERHOUSE LIKE THAT?!" I looked to the shortest boy again.
"I guess I needed a change of scenery."
Even I knew that was a terrible lie.
