Chapter three: Kill the Authority

It had been nearly a week after getting Sayo properly situated here. And luckily with some bribing I was able to have a tailor come over to get Sayo some new clothes.

And it turns out letting her work here was very useful for business. It nearly doubled not just the profits but also the people coming by. Making a steadier stream of income.

And it made cleaning after the night so much easier. Of course I did have to get her a bit of a disguise to wear in the back in case any guards every recognized her from the incident.

That was making her wear a wig and a pair of thick glasses. Both combined with the new outfits made it nearly impossible to recognize her. I'd just finished cleaning the last of the glasses and setting it down as I opened a letter with another tip.

My next job it seemed. An illegal sex trafficking in the capital. That wasn't that odd. And this one followed the same as the rest. Girls from the country side getting captured.

Then pawned off. What did make this different from the rest was the people backing it. Ogre the captain of the guard and Gamal a wealthy merchant. Both working together were quite possibly more dangerous then most noble families.

But just as I finished reading the last of the note Sayo walked out wiping sweat from her brow.

Sayo: "Alright! I cleaned up for the day." She said with a accomplished nod.

Y/n: "Good. I'm going to be gone for the night. And I think I'll have to close the shop for tomorrow." I said resealing the letter. I'd burn it soon enough.

Sayo: "Oh. So... You have to go on a mission? Like the one you did with me?" She asked as the atmosphere suddenly changed.

Y/n: "Sadly I do." I said with a nod.

Sayo: "But why... I heard that the capital was a great place?" She asked as she sat down next to me.

Y/n: "The capital might have been that great at one time. But not anymore. The new emperor is far too naive at what's happening. And the chairmen is practically letting everyone do whatever they wish as long as he gets a cut." I said with a annoyed sigh.

Sayo: "But then why don't more people know about it? I'm sure that they'd try to rally together!"

Y/n: "Some do know. But they decide not to try and do a thing about it. What could a handful of commoners do against the entire military?"

Sayo: "Then why are you doing this alone?"

Y/n: "I wouldn't say I'm fighting the empire alone. I am not a part of their side but the revolutionary army is the largest opposing force. They used to be a very small unit. But they gathered imperial arms. And used that to get resources from outside the country. And now they're a serious threat."

Sayo: "An imperial arms?" She asked confused.

Y/n: "Ah. I forgot not everyone knows of them. The simple explanation is that long ago the emperor had weapons crafted to try and make his kingdom that much stronger. But some have fell out of the vaults or their resting places. Each one has special unnatural abilities with them. Mine is a good example."

I said as I reached under the counter. Grabbing Phoenix tears: Pryo and placing it on the counter.

Y/n: "This one is a bit of a multi use one. It strengthens my body but also lets me use attacks with a fire attribute. While not the strongest I make good use of it."

Sayo: "How was it created? And how did you get it?" She asked.

Y/n: "Well the first is how it's crafted. I'm not 100 percent sure since some of the stories are different. But the most common is that it was made from the dragon type danger beast inferno. It's flames were a spark in a religion so it's flames were called those that soar the sky to the heavens. I came across it after clearing out a group of guards who were using an abandoned mine to try and find someone to wield it." I said.
