It's been a couple of weeks-too many weeks-since I've come to the bathhouse.

Every other day, I was assigned different jobs. Working in the bathhouse some days and working in the kitchens the others.

Then I would be allowed to go to visit Nico and then finally relax and explore the place.

I made friends with Akagi-a kitchen boy kitsune with four tails.

I learned he's been in the bathhouse since he was a kit, or at least that's what he said.

Apparently he was found by Yubaba with Kita, the twins, and Suna.

All abandoned by their families but together.

Which did explain why they shared mutual respect towards each other and why Kita was a little loose with them.

I was currently holding a helmet in my hands, thinking of a boy I met long ago by the lake in a past life but never got to speak to.

See, Akagi's kitsune magic was the ability to find your past life and show a glimpse.

Through his magic, I was able to see what I looked like and what era I once lived in.

In my past life, I lived in the warring states period and was a daughter of a lord and I apparently happened to love strolling by the lake nearby.

One day I happened to find a boy who wasn't from my state.

He was mute and was lost in my state, having to rely on hand gestures and writing to get around.

Past Life

I was walking by the lake and noticed a figure on the reed beds by the river, the flag of our enemies nearby and his shield carrying the emblem.

I took a cautious step forward and he moved, rolling over to show a beautifully handsome face.

His eyes opened slowly and I saw golden-hazel, my heart beating loudly.

"Come with me," I said to him. "If you stay here, the guards will surely capture you."

He followed me into the stables by the castle, me watching to make sure no one saw us.

I closed the door slightly and sat down. "What are you doing laying by the lake! Do you want to be caught!?"

I gave him directions and I went to get some food since I had no idea if he had eaten anything.

The boy did as I told, also removing his armor to reveal a wounded arm.

As the months passed, I found myself falling for him.

I couldn't keep him a secret forever and my mother eventually discovered him in the stables but simply welcomed him with open arms.
