Chapter Nine: Drama

'Ahh, yummy!' Leaf exclaimed happily, taking a bite out of her blue cotton candy.

Two hours now, they had stayed at the fair. During that time, they had been on almost every single ride, tried every single game, ate every single thing that was available, and there was still two hours left 'till it closed. The girls were planning to make the most of those two hours.

'Let's go on another ride before we head back,' May suggested, munching on her hotdog that was absolutely dripping with mustard.

'Good idea,' Dawn agreed, finishing her corn on the cob.

'Hey, we haven't been on that ride yet!' Misty squealed, pointing to a ride that seemed like a long pole with loops spiralling from the bottom from a distance.

The girls finished their food and curiously headed to the ride. Up close, the ride was towering over them from a building's height. At first, the spirals were small, then as they reached the ground, grew metres in length. The long pole had two seats on either side of it, fitting eight people in total.

May sighed in relief when she saw seat-belts.

They paid ten dollars admission each for the ride and hopped on; May and Leaf sitting next to each other and Dawn and Misty sitting on the other side.

'Ooh, lookie here. What a pleasant surprise to see you at the fair,' a voice said, startling the girls.

They looked around and saw Gary, Ash, Paul and Drew sitting next to each other too, wearing identical smirks.

'Oh God, why?' Leaf groaned, fastening her seat-belt.

'What are you guys doing at the fair?' Misty questioned.

Drew shrugged, 'We got bored and you guys weren't at your dorms so we could annoy you. We went here just to kill some time. What a coincidence that we've found you girls here.'

'Not coincidence; fate,' both Gary and Dawn quoted. They grinned at each other knowingly.

Paul shook his head. He'd never understand the secret language songwriters communicated with.

The ride started, going up, up, up very slowly. It reminded them all of an extremely slow, crappy elevator.

Then, all of a sudden, when they had reached the top and the group could practically see the whole fair-ground, they were suddenly dropped down. The wind rushed through their faces and whipped their garments around wildly.

'EEEEP!!!' Dawn screeched when her beanie blew off the top of her head.

Finally, they had reached the spirals. They spun around, and around, and around and an alarming speed.

May suddenly felt the urge to puke and secretly scolded herself for listening to her stomach's pleas for food.

The ride jerked to a stop and they were all nearly flung out of their seats.

'My hair!' Wailed Dawn when she saw the time wasted on getting her hair perfect gone in a matter of seconds. Now, it was a big ball of blue friz and she looked like she had an afro.

'Don't worry Dawn,' soothed Leaf. 'I've got a comb in my bag.'

She handed Dawn the comb, who started brushing her hair furiously.

Paul rolled his eyes and muttered something about 'not caring if Dawn woke up bald' or something.

'May?!'

Startled, the gang turned around, and came face to face with four boys, two with jet-black hair, one with red hair and one with brown hair obscured with a white hat.
