When I finally woke up, my leg felt strange and I had pins and needles but it felt normal. I looked down to see a black, thin leg replacement. I jumped at the sight but then suddenly I got used to it. Mr. Smith, the healer, said that they weren't allowed to magic real-looking legs onto children because of the risk. I smiled at him and he walked away. Mum, dad and Lys came running over from the waiting room.
"Finally! "Breathed Lys" Those animals were so annoying."
I laughed and he laughed too.
They all hugged me and a helper came over to help me, that's where the name comes from.
She picked me up by the shoulders and placed me on the floor, I slipped a bit with my new leg but she had an iron grip.
"Try walking normally." she smiled
I took a step with my real leg and then with the fake one. I slipped again but she caught me again. I tried again and again and finally I got to grips with my new leg. I hobbled around quickly and played with Lysander before we went home.

Before anyone says that this shouldn't be in a happy book, you find out later (or maybe you have already figured out) why his leg was bad. I'm not trying to cause offence to anyone who may have a prothsectic limb.
