Always Waking Alone

I wake up alone, "Ciel...?" I call quietly and look around. There's a note on the nightstand beside me. I pick it up carefully. "I-I'm..." I skip over a few words, one I recognize comes up since Ciel told me about it once before. "...Exposition Universelle..." I mumble and blink, seeing Ciel's name at the bottom. "Ciel left without me...?" I mumble and drop the paper.

I get up quickly and getting dressed doesn't come to mind, Ciel could be in danger. I leave the manor, only Mey-Rin noticing me leaving and calling after me. I ignore her and run faster, moving much more quickly than I usually would. Meaning I arrive in Paris about 5 minutes after I leave the manor.

I search around Paris but sigh as I realize I might be able to get a better view from higher above. The tallest thing I see is a triangle looking structure. "How strange..." I mumble softly to myself as I head to it quickly. Hearing some people speak, I learn that it's the Eiffel Tower. I blink as I look from the bottom. "This would take much too long to run or ride..." I mumble and decide on one thing.

I'll just jump. I blink and crouch down, my nightgown hanging off my shoulder slightly. Taking one last loo at how tall the structure is, I jump. My hair flowed around me and I kept a blank face as I landed on the top. My eyes widen as a man comes at Ciel with a sword. "No!" I growl and jump in front of Ciel just as Sebastian moves him to safety. My wings form and I use them to block the sword attack.

"Don't...touch....Ciel." I mumble quietly and flap my wings, causing the man to fly back. "Angela..." I mumble as I finally see his face. "Ria move!" Ciel orders and I look up at him blankly. "They tried to kill you." The woman beside Angela points at me. "Kill her with your lade as well Ash. Then she shall be united with Ciel." I glare at the woman and Angela, now known as Ash.

"I will not let you hurt Ciel." I growl angrily. "Sebastian this is an order, kill Ash and...the Queen!" I gasp, having let my guard down for a moment, Ash was able to hit my wing. "Ah!" I shout, he had aimed for the vital part of my wing. I jump back, holding my bloodied wing. "You won't...touch Ciel..." I growl as my animal side emerges.

Ash smiles and holds out his sword to me. "I promise I will not touch him until you are dead." His promise makes me livid. "I will not die, especially knowing that." He glares, obviously unsatisfied with my response. "She is not even dressed properly Ash. If this is the Ria that is to marry Alois Trancy, I am not sure why he requested her hand in marriage." I hear Ciel's gasp behind me as an arm wraps around my waist, lifting me up.

"My lady, please attempt to keep yourself out of harms way, no matter how much the young master is threatened. He'll be alright." I frown but nod, knowing Sebastian is capable of taking care of Ciel. "Okay." Sebastian smiles and sets me down beside Ciel then leaves to fight. "Ria, you have to listen to me. Now you're hurt." Ciel states and pulls me to face him.

He pulls my wing towards himself gently and looks over it. "It's not horribly wounded so your wing should be fine." I haven't said a word to him and now he looks up to see my sad expression. "Why do you look upset? What happened?" He asks quickly, a worried expression cover his face. "You...left me." I whisper sadly and realization crosses his face.

"Ria, I hadn't meant to upset you. I wanted to keep you safe." I close my eyes, feeling the water become hot as it falls down my face in a salty cascade. "You didn't let me protect you." I whisper as my voice cracks. I clutch my chest. "Why do I always feel this way when I wake up without you?" I ask him and blink, my vision blurry from the water. "Ria...I didn't know please-." He is cut off by a yells from below and from the Queen.

"No! Stop this please Ciel!" I look back at her and then at Ciel as he walks away from me. "I'll be back..." I whisper and run towards the rail where Ciel is and jump past him, my wings spreading out and painfully stretching my wound. "Ria?! Where are you going?! Come back!" I hear Ciel shout. I shake my head and fly away. I might not be able to protect him now, but I will soon.
