CHAPTER SIX
FLASHING LIGHTS
┗━━━━━━━━━━━━┛

YOU might have noticed it's been all quiet on the Upper Eastern front for the past 24 hours.

Think the storm has passed? Not a chance.

Sources tell us to keep your eyes peeled at the Armory. Who doesn't love a fashion showdown?

XOXO, Gossip Girl

Cristian had felt the anonymous account's looming presence, and couldn't help but fear a storm was brewing. Unfortunately, he has been proved right. And even more unfortunate? He's in the eye of the hurricane.

He was surprised Julien had saved him a ticket at all, but he supposes he has Obie to thank for that. The girl is making an effort to include him, and CJ's grateful for that, but this event couldn't have come at a worse time. He doesn't have the energy to focus on the sister drama, as he's already drowning in his own.

"This feels illegal." CJ determines. He throws his phone onto Obie's bed before glaring into the mirror again.

Obie, being the type of person that he is, offered to show Cristian the ropes to the elite world of New York's finest. It seems to include getting ready in Obie's multimillion dollar penthouse in Brooklyn.

Their houses are pretty close in proximity. They barely have ten minutes keeping them apart. Cristian chalks it up to rich people herding together and hoarding all their spoils for themselves.

In the mirrors reflection, he sees Obie chuckle, "What?"

"Me wearing this," He elaborates, turning around to face the boy, "It's probably worth more than I am— or worth more than I was, I guess."

CJ's eyes scrutinize his outfit. A striped color block button-up (which he honestly doesn't mind), black dress pants, and those expensive white sneakers. He glares at the black suit jacket he threw on over the shirt.

"Yeah, it must be strange. Suddenly being thrown into all of this. I can't imagine it." Obie sympathizes, preoccupying himself with the watch on his wrist.

"Strange is an understatement," Huffs CJ as he shrugs off the stiff jacket, "It feels wrong, almost. No matter how irrational it is, I think I'm doing something bad just by being here, in this."

"Wrong how?" Obie inquires, both of their brown eyes connecting. Instead of holding the eye contact, CJ faces the mirror again.
