The bridge of the Winters Aurora was dimly lit and humid, a byproduct of the stealth cruisers silent running. The ship's crew were seeing to their various roles that assured their vessel was hidden on all scopes. The Aurora was designed to skulk through space, using its state-of-the-art suite of scanners to capture any data that may interest LGN High Command. They were currently deployed to the Guepard cluster to check for a potential enemy deep space refueling platform.
"Scopes are clear Captain", Lieutenant Richard relays as he keys his work station and magnifies his screens resolution. "There is nothing out there, all scans are coming up clean. Looks like we have been sent on a wild goose chase again."
"That's the third one this month sir" Nav officer Mikhail said as she peered towards the main view screen on the bridge.
Anthony Silver, the Auroras Captain was staring at the results of their wide spectrum scan, scratching his chin as he contemplated the results and what his crew had said. After several moments he placed his hand on his Nav officer's shoulder.
"We do what is asked of us son, thousands of men and women and dozens of ships rely on us to keep them safe and informed" he said charismatically. His crew were growing weary, their ship hadn't berthed in over a month, ever since Fermi station got attacked, the risk of the enemy detecting their stealth ship would make the entire fleets mission that much harder. But Silver had to keep morale high, keep his crew on their toes, they needed to be prepared for anything.
"Alright, we've done our mission, Mikhail, prepare to jump back to the fleet" but before he could finish giving his order, he was interrupted by his com officer.
"Encrypted transmission incoming sir, on emergency frequency 29.8" Com officer Anita Reported,
"Check encryptions, make sure its legit before we decide what to do". Silver added
This wasn't the first time an enemy tried to use emergency communications to bait LGN ships into giving them their location. He pulled up the frequency on screen to check if he might recognize the encryption code. As the 27-digit numerical string of code appeared on his display, his eyes widened awe struck, he simultaneously turned to his Lieutenant.
"Get the Praetorian commander up on the bridge now" he barked.
