"Danielle!"

Danielle looked up from the phone to see her best friend Emma bursting through the small coffee shop door. She smiled and stood up to hug her best friend whom she hasn't seen in almost five years.

"So good to see you," Danielle whispered as she wrapped her arms around Emma's body. "What happened to you?"

"Oh shut up!" Emma laughed. "Like you haven't changed in those five years,"

"Not as much as you!" Danielle gently rubbed Emma's back.

"I honestly feel like I'm still dreaming or something," Emma took a step back as Danielle pinched her arm. "That hurt!"

"At least now you know that it's not a dream," Danielle laughed again. "Do you want to sit down and get some coffee or cake?"

"Yes to coffee, no to the cake. I'm trying to cut off some unnecessary sugar," Emma smiled. "I'm sure you can't relate with a body like that,"

"I think you look amazing," Danielle gently squeezed her best friend's hand while Emma looked quite uncomfortable hearing that. Emma always felt insecure about the way she looked, and Danielle knew that. "But I'll take two," Danielle winked at her best friend before heading to order some coffee and cake.

Almost two hours passed, and Danielle felt genuinely happy for the first time in a while. The emptiness and sorrow in her heart slowly filled with pure happiness and joy. Being stuck in New York broke her down more than anyone could imagine or see.

"Savre! Brown!" Danielle looked up from her almost empty cup to see Cody and Marcus slowly approaching their table. Two more people who make her genuinely happy.

"Whole gang here, huh?" Danielle hugged both of them while Emma kept on mumbling how they destroyed the perfect moment by coming here.

Emma, Cody, Marcus, and Danielle all went to the same high school. While all of them come from very different backgrounds and have completely different life stories now, they still manage to be each other's rock. It's been almost five years since the last time they all sat at the same table, but it still somehow feels like nothing has changed.

"Is it just me, or does it feel like a time travel back in time?" Cody asked. "I mean, we sat here after the graduation wearing those fancy dresses and suits, talking about our dreams and plans and how we will always be by each other's side even if we are far away,"

"I can't believe it's been almost five years, and we still talk," Emma replied.

"Feels like nothing changed, yet everything's changed," Danielle looked at her friends, feeling her heart fill up with sweet memories of late-night conversations and secret meetings.

"It's been too long," Marcus nodded his head. "Honestly, it felt like an eternity. I thought that being gay in high school was hard, but now it's almost unbearable,"

"Do you want me to punch someone in the face?" Cody asked while showing off his muscles. "Or we could make Danielle do that. I heard she's good at hitting people,"

"It happened once!" Danielle said while nervously laughing. She had to defend herself more than once, and it still gives her nightmares. Neither Marcus nor Cody knows about her terrible experience in New York. Being abused by the people you love the most can be extremely hard to even think about, and Danielle knew that talking about it would make her break into million pieces.

"Danielle doesn't need to do anything," Emma gently squeezed Danielle's hand. "And hide that embarrassment you call muscles," She looked at Cody, who was already looking like a five-year-old whose parents told him that Santa is not real.

"You're crushing my dreams, Emma," Cody sighed heavily.

"We all know even Marcus has bigger muscles than you, and I'm not even talking about Danielle," Emma took a sip of her coffee.

"You know I just had a thought," Marcus looked around the table, slightly smiling. "We never really talked about what happened at that party after the graduation,"

"I don't think we should," Danielle took a big bite of her chocolate cake. Everyone suddenly got a little more interested in what happened, and Danielle felt her cheeks start blushing. "I mean, nothing interesting," She looked at Emma, who was looking at Danielle with her head tilted to the side and raised eyebrows.

"Who kissed you?" Emma asked.

"Me? No one!" Danielle nervously laughed.

"No way!" Cody laughed out loud. "You made out with someone and didn't tell us?"

"I didn't," Danielle looked around the coffee shop as her voice got a little louder. She started to feel a little uncomfortable, and it made her feel anxious. She didn't feel like talking about what happened that day because she knew that meant nothing even though it pushed her to experiment with her sexuality, and now she's openly bisexual.

"Okay, no need to get mad," Cody's look went from Danielle to someone who just entered the coffee shop. "Perfect, all I wanted today was to see some people from the hell place we called high school," He looked down at his phone.

"Who?" Marcus looked behind him. "Oh! Ms. Spampinato, Ms. Grey!" He called excitedly.

Danielle felt her heart start beating million times per minute. She could feel her cheeks blushing and hands shaking. She hasn't heard that name in almost five years, and hearing it now made her feel all kinds of things.

"Do I need to know something? Because you look like something just hit you, and that something is coming toward us," Emma whispered as she leaned in closer to Danielle.

"She kissed me after the graduation," Danielle whispered as she looked at Emma, who was still very close to her.

"Who?" Emma started giggling.

"Stefania," Danielle said a little louder than anticipated.

"Danielle, what a surprise,"
