That morning the two eventually got up, Quackity making breakfast sandwiches after the two took some painkillers for their headaches. Wilbur had watched as the winged one made said breakfast, then the two ate at the bar stools keeping a simple conversation of what the other would do for the day. "I have a question though, Quackity." The brunette said, making said male look up from his meal.
"Hm?"
"Whose moving in with who?" At that Quackity himself stopped chewing, pondering on the question. He hadn't thought of that yet. "Or, we could just hold off moving in with one another until... further, down the line." Quackity tilted his head in thought.
"You could just move in with me." The other male perked up at this.
"Really?" Quackity nodded, going back to eating. It went back to normal talking after this, both finishing their meals and getting ready to leave for the day. Wilbur was going to go and find Tommy and hang out while Quackity would be out running his country. A normal day for Quackity, or at least he thought it would be. When he walked into the casino, that was pretty empty because of how early it was in the day, he saw his father. Sam, sat with his arms crossed with the look of concern and sadness written on his face. Then, he noticed Fundy and knew something was off.
"Dad...?" Sam said nothing, then he unfolded his arm to reveal a huge envelope with the words 'Marriage Certificate' plastered on the front.
"So, When were you gonna tell me you got married?" He asked. Fundy looked down, twiddling with his fingers. Quackity took a better look at the mail and noticed it open. He paled, they must have read the contents. "And to WILBUR SOOT of all people?" Sam looked more hurt than sad now, handing over the envelope to his son.
"You married my dad?" Fundy asked, orange eyes meeting Quackity's dark blue ones.
"Um, yeah. I-I did." Fundy looked back down, obviously not sure how to feel about this new discovery. "I'm sorry Dad, it happened last night! I didn't have ti-" Sam put his hand up, a obvious cue to be quiet. The son did, eyes cascaded down just like Fundy's where.
"I'm not angry that you got married, Quacks. I'm hurt that you didn't do it properly, I told you I wanted you to do it properly. It was the only rule!" Quackity knew how his father wanted his sons to marry, with a guy who proposed, and Sam himself walking his sons down the isle to their new future. He knew his father had to be hurting, Quackity felt horrible.
"Dad... I'm sorry. I-It just happened!" The winged one tried to explain. "Me and Wil got... drunk... and we just got married! It was out of the blue! I myself just found out I got married today!" Sam looked even worse, green eyes drooping and dull.
"Does that mean you two are divorcing?" Fundy asked, and Quackity didn't ignore the hopeful tone in his voice. Quackity shook his head no slowly, the fox hybrid looked disappointed at the gesture.
"No, if anything me and Wil decided to try and make it work." Quackity faced his father, blue eyes glittering with unshed tears. "Dad, I'm sorry that this happened the way it has, and I hope you can forgive me and Wil one day, but we both are staying married." Sam nodded, closing his eyes and taking a deep breath.
"I need some air." The creeper hybrid walked away, leaving Fundy and Quackity alone now. Fundy looked at the bird hybrid with unsure eyes.
"I don't know how to feel about this either, Quackity." And soon, even Fundy left the scene. Quack's himself stood there for a moment before making his way to his office, shutting the door shortly after. When it was shut, Quackity opened the envelope, pulling the certificate out and reading it over.
"Quackity Soot..." His last name was now Soot. Quackity weakly smiled to himself.
