I woke up to my alarm reminding me to wake up. I remembered it was Robert's birthday today  I flipped over to feel the other side of my bed empty. He had said something about having an early breakfast meeting last night. I debated whether I should get five more minutes or just get out straight away.

Pulling myself out of bed I went to open the bedroom window exposing the bright yellow light shining through the lace cutins. I looked out the window and saw the green grass that still had dew from last night's cold front.

I walked into the bathroom checked my morning face,  turned on the shower so it could warm up a bit then chose my outfit for his birthday.

Robert had been my fiance he was my soul mate he was aggressive at times but I didn't mind because behind I loved him. I tried to be perfect for him and took the day to prepare for his party. I hopped out of the shower and tiptoed on the cold marble glass on the bathroom floor to my room I put my outfit on the freshly made bed and started to get ready.

Adding  a denim jacket to my floral yellow pencil high dress with white converse while straightening my hair I heard the door open to be greeted by my best friend ."Don't you look stunning" She commented while standing by the door with a present in her hands.

"You know normal people knock Alice". I glared at her.  Alice had short blond hair brushing off her shoulders, with ocean blue eyes she was just three months older and just inches taller than me. she had perfectly tanned skin due to her working on the beaches ." Well I'm not normal I'm i ".she answered on her way to the kitchen I walked to the door and picked up the things I had ordered online.

"So you never told me about your new man".I asked while licking the icing off my finger while smirking at her. She looked at me then at the door looking for the answer

"Well like we ok actually but I have, ".she said avoiding my eye just as she was about to answer my phone rang"Hold on I think that's his mom ill be back ". I smiled at her reassuring her I loved her."Hello I answered."Yeah hi hazel it's Roberts's mom, we'll be just a little late our flight got delayed sweetie so don't forget to save some cake and please tell Robby not to worry." she spoke, "Sure Mrs, Stanly do not worry ill tell him".I cut the call soon after making my way back to Alice

"Do I know him?" she avoided my gaze"No actually you don't he's not from here so ". she said while putting the decorations up with me."What did you get him" she glanced at the papers on the counter.

"It's a surprise" I smiled"It's something small anyway," I said finally finishing up with everything. More and more people had started arriving for the birthday party mostly were his colleagues and family were.
