ARI'S POV

It is rare to see my dad at home. He always works twenty-four seven basically a workaholic but sometimes he comes home 3am or 4am unless he is sick or tired but never in the days. I went near and greeted him. He tried to reassure me with a smile but his face showed nothing expect exhaustion from working.

"Ari, how was school?" He asked as he took a sip of his iced coffee not eager in talking to me. Maybe he is too tired to communicate.

"Great..." I said in an uninterested tone.

"How about you go up to your room now. You can talk to your father after" mom said looking at the stairs sternly.

I guess they are discussing about something serious and they don't want me to hear it. What if it is about grandma? I went up to my room and picked up my phone quickly.

I was not allowed to bring my phone when I go to school. It's kinda of the rule. I went up to my room and threw my bag on my red cozy bed.

Once I had changed, I grabbed my phone and dialed my grandmother's phone number. I impatiently paced around my room scared not going to hear her say goodbye.

"Ari?" She said her voice cracking.

"Grandma, how are you?" I asked letting out a thankful sigh.

"Good," she said her voice sounding a bit horse. Maybe she's sick?

"Are you taking your medications properly... feeling sick?"

"What is up to you?" she asked straight to the point.

"It has been months since I have talked to you. I miss you a lot,"

"Did you see something unexpectedly bad-weird?"

All of sudden, her voice was drastic and stern. How did she know about my dream? Maybe she is trying to suspect me because I was suddenly asking her about things. I can always tell her about my dream but what if it terrifies her or make her think she is going to die... I don't want her to worry about my dream. It is just an ordinary nightmare, nothing worse.

"I saw a black cat when I was crossing the road," I changed the topic she started.

"Nice joke Ari," She chuckled . She is not superstitious at all even though she knows magic. She is likely to think they are ridiculous. She was back to herself. She must have been mad at me for not calling her for a long time.

"I was wondering to visit you this weekend,"

"You are always welcome,"

"Don't forget to make me your signature dish,"

"You better buy me the key ingredients-" I heard a loud thud through through the line.

"Bye, it's probably the post man," She said concluding the conversation.

"Bye, see you soon-" She ended the call before I can even say goodbye. I can sort out this misunderstood conversation this Saturday so she can actually make her recipe more delicious.

I was finally relieved. Grandma is alive and she will live a long life. She is safe and healthy. My mind is playing fool with me. I also noticed I did not have any headache when I talked to her. I messaged Luca the good news. He replied me with a thumbs up emoji.

Luca: Are you okay with her answer?

Ari: She is alright, that means I am okay with that too.

Luca: I cannot even tell if you are lying.

Ari: Why do I need to lie when I am fine?
