"fuck off, jeonghan." seungcheol firmly states, making jeonghan waver a little. "i'm not even surprised that you're on his side."jisoo's grip on seungcheol's wrist tightens, feeling minghao's presence get nearer. the king has moved away from his swivel, leather throne, it seems. "come on, jeonghan. let them be. they'd be dead when they dare step into any of my land anyway."
"i'm on the side that wins," jeonghan smirked, placing back his gun on its respective holster. "so good luck to you two. i'm sorry about your antlers. they're too painful to look at, anyway. consider that a little.. trim."
seungcheol winced from jisoo's tightening grip, and the superbeing quickly took notice. jisoo lets go of seungcheol's wrist, before the detective started talking. "we're on the right side, then. bad people always get what they deserve."
"like what? my current lifestyle?" minghao retorts, snorting. this action makes jisoo even more enraged, as seungcheol can notice. "i'm on top of everyone, seungcheol-ssi. is this what you meant by what bad guys 'deserve'?"
these two failed to recognize that they were jeering at justice himself. jisoo hates bad people more than seungcheol, and that guy is so full of himself that he'll eat off one of your limbs if you ever insult him. if seungcheol didn't teach jisoo to restrain himself, minghao and jeonghan would cease to exist in this moment.
jisoo scoffed. "first, you dare overstep your bounds and shoot off a part of the antlers of your world's protector. second, you two are being unfair and threatening to your own kind, humans. third, you are trying to harm your friend who trusted you very much." jisoo mocked a smile. "humans... always so incompetent."
"so what? you've done nothing for the world other than eat humans," jeonghan replied with a bitter tone, while minghao started walking back to his desk. he seems fond of that stolen throne, huh? "you deserve to be annihilated, too."
"if i wasn't doing my duty, you would have never been born." jisoo grabs seungcheol's wrist once again, glaring at jeonghan. "and you might forget that i am what your world relies on. if i decide to go against everything, i can. and you'll see. you'll see how much you'd regret this."
"and seungcheol? you'd betray him too? you hate humans, as always. i'm ashamed to have a protector like you." jeonghan spat. "you're the worst we could've gotten."
"what?! okay, i think we need to fix a certain issue here," jisoo chuckled, tilting his head slightly to hit jeonghan's head. "jeonghan, he's not into you. seungcheol is not on your side, and he never will be again. so, sorry. sorry that you don't have my utterly charming poise. sorry that you're not me. scram!"
jisoo drags seungccheol away, who even purposely bumped onto jeonghan. seungcheol didn't want to get dragged all the way down the hallway—so he pulls his wrist away from jisoo's grasp when they were far enough from those two snakes, and confronts jisoo.
"what?! don't tell me we are going to have an arguement too?" jisoo said in disbelief, retracting his antlers.
seungcheol was still mad from the revelation earlier, but... but, oh.
if jisoo retracted his antlers, which are basically a weapon to him—and jisoo was expecting them to argue, then did that mean that..
it means that jisoo was comfortable around seungcheol? huh?!?!! earth protector and human eater gives seungcheol a 'you can live i guess' pass?!
"dude... you just rejected jeonghan for me. i didn't even know for sure if he liked me, b—"
"do you still treasure your friendship with him?!" jisoo blatantly asked, making seungcheol chuckle in surprise. "he's a bad friend!"
"jeonghan's mom is friends with my mom! i was just a little worried... also, i'm sorry about your antlers. will you get in trouble for that?" seungcheol winced, reaching out subconsciously to jisoo's head—before he realizes that jisoo had already retracted his antlers.
jisoo's angry expression softens into a soft one, added with a prolonged sigh. "i can grow back antlers, mortal. it's fine. i'm glad jeonghan hit my antlers instead, and not you." jisoo takes seungcheol's hand which was suspended in the air, holding it delicately. now, jisoo was holding seungcheol's hand with both of his.
"we're on the right side," seungcheol sighed, suddenly remembering what jeonghan said. "but we're also on the losing side. don't you want to be on the winning side, jisoo?"
jisoo made a face that's mostly cute. "well... we might be on the losing side, but it's your side. i take your side. anytime. you're my new favorite human now. unanimously."
seungcheol was so going to piss on the floor. why is jisoo being—why is he like this?!
"well, we need to get back to work now. eyes on your surroundings, just to make sure nobody is trying to kill us or something." seungcheol sighed, nodding at jisoo. "we can't work here. let's get our stuff in the office and go back home to work there instead."
jisoo chuckled, letting go of seungcheol's hand. "yes, boss! also: look at your hand."
huh?
seungcheol looks at the hand jisoo held earlier, to find a single red, hibiscus flower sitting on his palm. seungcheol couldn't help but to break a smile, staring fondly at jisoo's little flower magic trick.
"that's because it's red, and red matches your hair," jisoo winked, dragging seungcheol by the wrist once again. "now let's go! i just needed to cheer you up a little because i can't laugh when you're serious."
seungcheol felt like that reason was made-up. "okay, but when did you learn how to—like, fucking conjure flowers or something?"
"in the past, flowers grow wherever i touch. but, i've controlled it now, because once, lilies grew on the back of a whale when i pet it." jisoo shrugged. "now come on! i suddenly want to eat humans! let's go catch bad guys now!"
seungcheol swears that he can feel something mutual. but, oh well, he can set that aside for now.
