(a/n: i just realized.... i wrote 'trinklets' all this time instead of trinkets... pLEASE I'm SORRY I'LL EDIT IT SOON
also, i've elminated most of the comedic elements. i kinda developed a simplistic writing style so... enjoy!)
"what do you—why're you leaving?" seungcheol confusedly asked, squinting at jisoo who was heading to the door. the detective didn't know what to do; what if there was a hitman outside or something? "i thought we were gonna do the plan?"
jisoo turned around. he grimaced. "it seems like we have different plans in mind. i thought we were finally getting along, stupid human."
"well, sometimes we do get along." seungcheol shrugged. "but anyway, just tell me what your plan is. then i'll tell what i thought was your plan, then we decide from there. cool?" he cautiously states, trying to avoid jisoo's daily insult rainfall.
jisoo walks to seungcheol, tugs his sleeve, and says: "how about we take a walk?"
jisoo fled. they did not walk at all, which was both convenient and scary for seungcheol. why? well, you never truly know when jisoo decides that he wants to kill you and then he just drops you down.
luckily, jisoo didn't feel like murdering today. he safely landed with seungcheol on a tall cliff, with the entirety of the city under their feet. they sat on the edge, left their legs dangling, and watched whatever was happening down the city while they talked.
"i thought you wanted to, like, pretend that you were going to go against your contract and i'll tell minghao you're on an eating spree and then he'll go check it out for himself, then you corner him and then kill him eventually." seungcheol starts, draping his cardigan over his shoulders. "not that i support you killing minghao."
jisoo sneered. "you call him 'minghao' now?! that's new! development, i suppose. i like that, seungcheol."
"shut up."
"no."
seungcheol clicked his tongue, looking at jisoo who was laughing. weren't they supposed to discuss their plans? jisoo is the one who invited them out here, and he's just playing around. "what's your plan then?"
jisoo scoots closer, and seungcheol doesn't move. the detective remembers when they were sat in that bench while watching autumn, talking about silly things. how seungcheol wishes that they still talked about trivial stuff. he didn't like it when things turned serious.
"i'm going to leave, seungcheol."
the wind stings seungcheol's eyes, causing him to rub them. jisoo didn't flinch one bit, and he was looking afar. seungcheol wonders what jisoo sees.
"what? are you leaving me all alone to fix the problem? quite nice, eh?" seungcheol bitterly replied, glancing at jisoo. "what did i even expect from you. i actually believed that you were trying not to break your contract. ah. anyways, if you wanna go and eat people, go now. i'm gonna fix this myself if you don't want to help me."
seungcheol has no right to get upset, so he isn't. he felt a little betrayed, but that's it. he always understood that jisoo was beyond these mortal rules (like contracts) and he can do whatever the hell he wants. he's the man with the most freedom in this earth, and seungcheol doesn't know whether to feel upset or jealous about that.
"i believe that anything i might suggest, you will hate it. so, i'll leave it to you, detective. but, in reality," jisoo giggled, his trinkets jingling. "i'm just going to be your bodyguard of sorts. if you need to kill someone who's getting in your way, call my name, and i will be there."
seungcheol's frown lightened. there we go with that stolen line again.
"they'll think i left you already," jisoo adds, cunningly smiling. "but i am actually on call."
seungcheol looks into jisoo's scary ass eyes. "so you mean, you're letting me do anything i want about the situation and you'll just be the murder machine if we need to murder anyone?"
jisoo hesitates for a moment, and seungcheol smiled at that. "i doubt that you'll want to murder anybody, but please call my name. i want to join in."
so he wants to be a hero of sorts, again? seungcheol thinks that jisoo is having his character development arc. seungcheol would like it if he becomes nicer to the detective too, but then if the daily dose of insults were gone, it wouldn't be jisoo.
"after that," jisoo looks up at the sky, admiring the moon. seungcheol then mirrored his actions. "i'll leave you forever."
if you ever come back, i'm gonna marry you. seungcheol remembers that he'd said that to jisoo back then as a joke, not really affected about this whole thing. but now that it's actually happening, seungcheol feels like something is going to be stolen away from him.
"don't you want to visit me? i gave you trinkets, you know," seungcheol joked, flicking one of jisoo's trinkets. jisoo leaned away from seungcheol with an annoyed look, making seungcheol laugh.
"i might cause more problems, seungcheol. why? you like me?"
"i dunno," seungcheol shrugged. jisoo was teasing him. "maybe."
oh my god. seungcheol does like jisoo. whenever he acts all cute and shit, seungcheol likes it. whenever jisoo insults him, seungcheol is fine with it. whenever jisoo saves him, seungcheol's stomach is filled with butterflies. whenever seungcheol is with jisoo, the particular void in seungcheol's life is filled.
liking people is normal. seungcheol denied anything that has to do with having a romantic relationship with jisoo, but he didn't know it was inevitable. if seungcheol knew it was inevitable, he would've stopped resisting earlier on. seungcheol was just scared that he was imagining things.
he wasn't imagining things. he did like jisoo.
but there's no point in liking him now. he's going to leave. confessing won't make him stay. heartbreak, it seems, was also inevitable. he though he'd know better since this is seungcheol's second time liking somebody, but it's the same thing with jeonghan all over again. except, seungcheol will never hate jisoo afterward. jisoo was different.
jisoo was different.
"i understand. i'm the prettiest thing in the world and nobody can resist me." jisoo winked at seungcheol, who blew a raspberry.
"tons of models are prettier than you, and you'll be surprised how many people online will run upon seeing you." seungcheol says, debunking jisoo's little delusions. the superbeing scoffs in return.
"same goes for you." jisoo whispers, lightly hitting seungcheol's head with his antlers.
"you may not be the prettiest in the world," seungcheol says. "but you're the prettiest in my world."
jisoo's eyebrows furrowed, staring straight into seungcheol's eyes. "hm? where is this coming from, mortal?"
"from me, jisoo." the detective looks down at the city. "i know you said you were leaving forever, but if you ever come back, i'll marry you."
jisoo's eyes were glossy. seungcheol felt his heart drop. what does he do wrong that he gets undesirable results every time?
"please let me go, seungcheol." jisoo states. "all we had was a temporary bond."
