seungcheol is now severely traumatized."what?" jisoo looks at seungcheol like jisoo didn't just fucking scar the poor detective for life, while jisoo was wrapping a necklace around an antler branch. "i'm not gonna eat you, don't be scared. or maybe you should be."
"i am, jisoo," seungcheol shook his head, eyeing the little mushroom foot trail jisoo left on the floor.
"well... ok."
ever since they left the police department, the two headed back to seungcheol's old apartment—because apparently, they realized that minghao most likely hid cameras and microphones in the apartment he gave the two. and then, jisoo proceeded to cut off his antlers using a chainsaw and grew it back rapidly—before he took all his trinklets and wore it again in his new, bigger antlers.
... bad sight, to summarize. what if he cut off his head accidentally? seungcheol will never recover. it's like happy tree friends all over again.
"you know what to do." jisoo smiled cheekily, his smile reaching his sinister, brutal, deceving—everything bad eyes. he hands his old antlers to seungcheol, who still cannot move. "you're not frozen. come on, move!"
"b—buuu... huh. this is your plan?" seungcheol asked, suddenly getting a eureka moment. jisoo has a knack for dramatics, ever since they met and he made a stupid little story for hansol to believe. it's expected that he'd have a dramatic plan for this big conflict too. "you sure?"
"they'll let down their guard if we go with my plan, which is our only plan, and our best plan, because you didn't think of anything and even if you did mine would always be better an—"
"what?! my plans aren't bad! i'm not supposed to be a good planner anyway, i'm a detective!"
"i know best," jisoo shrugged, winking mischievously at seungcheol. "my plan is the best bet. it's everything. it's very simple. do you really get what i'm trying to convey? it feels like you're just pretending to."
"i do, and it's risky." seungcheol simply sighed, shaking his head at jisoo. the superbeing raised his eyebrows at seungcheol—who only rolled his eyes. "we don't know for sure if they're going to buy what we're gonna say! do you know how the society works?"
jisoo laughs at seungcheol, making the latter feel offended. "look at you. look at you all! your experience is like, 1/4000 of my experience regarding fighting. stupid guns, wouldn't even kill an immortal like me. knives? i can grow another heart out. making me bleed? i can cover it up by singing or growing flowers on it. humans are stupid! stupid humans!"
"well, to our offense, we weren't supposed to kill you anyway. you protect our world, remember? though you eat some living things every once in a while."
jisoo's smile turns into a grin, before the superbeing leans closer to seungcheol to boop the tip of his nose with his finger. as if jisoo just pressed a magical button, seungcheol's cheeks automatically go red. "smart human!"
i swear. it's not cute. no! it's not supposed to be! this is not you, seungcheol! you're not a senior high school student with glasses who sits beside the window and has not experienced any form of romantic love ever in your life and this quirky and special person compliments you and suddenly you grow red and grow feelings as well! you're a detective (who has never been in a relationship)!
"you're flustered. but it's true. haha! the power i hold!" jisoo cackled, booping seungcheol's nose over and over again—before the detective slapped jisoo's hand away. "oh. well, 'twas fun while it lasted. so? should we start?"
"jeonghan, don't you ever, ever do that again." minghao's fingers were interlaced with each other, legs crossed, eyes glowing even in the dim light. "do you realize how much stronger jisoo is?"
jeonghan sighed, his shoulders slumping. "i don't understand why we didn't kill them on sight. they know. they'd put us to jail."
minghao shook his head, laughing. jeonghan gulped.
"you're a detective, and yet you can't decipher the meaning to my actions." minghao sealed his lips firmly for a second, before continuing. "that thing is a serial killer. you know how dangerous it is to face a human serial killer—how much when it's someone who has antlers and amplified abilities? if you hurt seungcheol or if you piss him off in any way, we're all dead."
"but, your name! they'd talk shit about you, a—"
"well, the things they're going to say are true," minghao shrugged, laughing. "but i am the head of the police in a big city. seungcheol's side might be stronger, but if they use the 'expose my doings' method, their attack will be weak. the people trust me more than they trust a stupid serial killer with antlers and a normal detective."
but, in all truth, minghao wished that it didn't turn into all of this.
minghao was just... trying to continue his parents' research. it wasn't supposed to turn into a crime. minghao wasn't supposed to be who he is right now.
but, what's done has been done, right?
