~Kennedy~

I had only been in trouble one other time.

Picture this: The year was 2010. It was the day of  the 5th grade student council election. I ran for president, because what better job is there for a girl named after a ton of presidents? I prepared an outstanding dialogue, wrote a catchy jingle, and even had my own dance number. My speech was obviously superior to the others. But guess who won? Sophie Cross. She was sweet, popular, and brought her brand new puppy in as a mascot. It disgusted me. Once the winners were announced, I threw a tantrum, flipped my teacher off, and tried to rip Sophie’s perfect blonde ponytail right out of her head. Even though I didn’t get the whole ponytail, I had a decent sized chunk of wavy golden hair in my fist. She had a bald spot for the rest of the year. Mwahahahaha. I had to sit all by myself at lunch, at the bad kid’s table and wasn’t allowed to go outside for recess for 2 whole weeks. I was guilty, ashamed, and angry all at the same time. But it was worth it.

Anywho, that was nothing compared to how I felt now.

The flashlight shined in my face so bright I couldn’t think.

“You girls need to come with me right away,”  the chubby counselor said sternly. It was hard to take her seriously, as she had rollers in her hair and acne cream smeared across her face.

Delilah started to follow her, but I was frozen. I felt so scared that I was about to cry for my mommy and curl up in a ball. But as I stated before, I was very much frozen and very much scared.

Luckily, Delilah noticed my state of immobility, and grabbed my hand, giving it a tug.

“Move, Kennedy. Everything’s going to be fine,” She whispered. Little did I know that I would be in some horrible pain in the next 2 hours.

I reluctantly began to walk follow the counselor and Delilah until we reached the main cabin.

“No way,” Delilah mouthed.

“What?” I asked, peeking around Delilah, “Oh sh-”

“Kennedy! I’ve been looking everywhere for you!” Toby said to me, a towel wrapped around his shoulders. Nate stood behind him, looking cool as a cucumber.

Toby wrapped an arm around me and gave me a kiss on the cheek.

“What the heck, Toby? You don’t just kiss girls you just met.” He said, looking angry, “This isn’t Germany.”

“No, Nate, we’re-” I tried to say.

“Lovers!” cheered Delilah, clapping her hands together. She stopped suddenly, seeming to remember that boys were in our midst.

“Look, bro, I don’t want you with Kennedy, if this whole ‘Lovers’ thing is true or not,” ranted Nate.

“Why do you care? I didn’t think you were still hung up on her!” Toby almost yelled, removing his arm from my shoulder and aggressively moving closer to Nate.

“Boys!” yelled the counselor. “Break it up or take it outside. I don’t care. Come back tomorrow morning for your punishment. Just go away so I can watch Pretty Little Liars!” She pointed to the door.

Delilah squealed happily.

Nate grabbed my arm and dragged me outside,Toby following me. There was no sign of Delilah.

We marched to the empty space between the lake and the cabins, where I assumed the boys planned to smackdown!

"What's your deal, man? I thought we were friends?" Toby said, looking confused.
