Andree hates the idea of PROM. She dislikes mingling with strangers, especially those who use her solely because she is the smartest kid in her class. Dresses, tight gowns, and revealing skirts annoy her. The only thing that might spark her interest is the food offered at these events.
"Hey Dree!" shouted the student council president, skipping happily towards Andree, who's now opening her locker.
"I. Will. Never. Date. Anyone." Dree faced their student council president and sighed deeply. "You've been nagging me ever since this Locker Message thing started, and I'm telling you, all the messages I've received were all the same - and there was even someone asking me to be his fake girlfriend to make his ex-girlfriend jealous!" She removed the padlock from her locker and opened it. "Right now, my top priority is studying for the college entrance exams."
Andree returned her gaze to her locker, where she noticed Heart-shaped glasses sitting atop her books. She picked it up and took the envelope attached to it. The fact that there was no name on the back piqued her interest even more. Once she opened it, she was greeted by the scent of freshly picked flowers. There it says: Be My Date. I'll wear heart-shaped glasses. If you do the same, I'll know you accepted!
"Oh! There's a second card inside the envelope!" Chelsea took the envelope and opened the other card. Andree just sighed and glanced over at the smaller card. It says: P.S. It's for PROM.
"Finally! Someone asked you for PROM. Nobody wants to ask you out because they know you'll never say yes."
Andree's interest in the letter she received is increasing. She has no idea why she has such a good feeling about the person who sent her this message.
"Honey, take a look!" Andree's mother showed her a simple yet lovely yellow gown that reminded her of a Disney princess, Belle.
"Okay. I'll get that-"
Her mother rushed over to her and hugged her tightly before she could complete her answer. "At long last, my daughter is making friends!"
Andree playfully rolled her eyes and began laughing with her mother. When they got home, she immediately took all of her schoolbooks out of her backpack, opened her pencil case, and set her notebooks on her study table. She's determined to study and get into her dream college, despite the fact that the college exams are still six months away.
ding!
Andree slowly opened her eyes, adjusting to the bright sunlight.
ding!
She took her phone from the nightstand and turned it on. She received two texts from an unknown number. 'Hey girl! Today's the day!' and 'Hoping to see you later!'
She can tell it's from Chelsea, the student council president, just by reading the texts. She disregarded the messages and went to take a shower in the bathroom. Even though it was almost two o'clock in the afternoon, she chose not to eat anything because her gown required a tiny waist. But, because her tummy was roaring like a gigantic hungry baby, she decided to eat a small bowl of salad. Then, only hours before the event, she studied the reviewer for her exam again.
Night came, and Andree finds herself standing outside their school gym. Her right hand held heart-shaped glasses, while her left held an envelope. She went inside in search of a table free of popular kids and bullies. A few minutes later, she spotted an empty table with only one guy seated while fiddling with the tablecloth. Andree approached the table, and the students at the other table gave her strange looks.
