please know that i'm yours to keep, my beautiful girl
- city and colour.

Harry has been walking for ages. His new friend from uni, Liam is even grumbling beside him, and he's Liam. He lives for romantic stuff like this. He takes his girlfriend out for the most romantic dates, keeps her happy as a girlfriend can ever be, and he never seems to be in a bad mood. Or in a non-helpful mood.

So, that is why Harry asked Liam to help him.

"I can't believe you're taking so long to pick it. You're not even marrying her, and you're taking this long. I think we've been walking up and down for at least three hours," Liam huffs, and. Okay, Harry doesn't think he's ever heard Liam huff. Let alone complain.

Harry shakes his head, hands in his back pockets as they walk down Oxford Street for what seems to be the eighth time, maybe. "Yet. I'm not marrying her yet."

"Okay, Harry," he laughs, "But this is a promise ring. She'll be content with something simple. The engagement ring will be the big deal."

"But I don't want something simple for her. It's just. I love her so much, and she deserves for me to give her the best I can, after we barely spoke to each other for so long."

Harry's looking down at the pavement, a little disappointed that he hasn't found what he feels like is the perfect ring for Bella yet.

"Hey, Harry," Liam says over the noise of the busy street. Harry realises that Liam's voice sounds a little far and he stops in his tracks, turning around to see Liam peering into a shop's window. "Come here!"

Reluctantly, already close to giving up and just gifting Bella with his monkey ring, the one she always plays with while they're talking in bed, he walks towards Liam in front of the shop.

"Have you ever heard of birthstones?," Liam asks, turning to Harry and slightly pushing him closer to the shop's door.

"Er, no?" He's a little confused, but he lets Liam push him and he opens the door so they can slip into the shop.

Liam leads the way. "Birthstones are gemstones that symbolise the month of birth. Here," he says excitedly, spreading his arms to indicate the shop, "They make customised jewellery with birthstones."

"Okay...." Harry isn't quite catching his idea.

Liam shakes his head at Harry's oblivion. "Get Bella ring with both your birthstone and hers. More personal. Because it'll be you and her. The ring will symbolise only you and her. Unless," Liam ponders a little, "She meets someone whose born on the same month as you and that could mean she can use the promise ring for the other guy too."

Harry gets a little jealous from the thought of Bella meeting someone else. "Yeah, thanks for that."

Liam says sorry for what seems to be ages after that. But still, Harry picks a special but simple to the eye ring design from the catalogue the shopkeeper provides him with, as he tells her he wants a February and an October birthstone on it.

"It'll take a bit of time," the old man says, probably in his sixties. He looks sorry, as he's been listening to Harry talk to Liam and him about what Bella would most likely like and not like on her hand. "But, I'll gladly be on your order right away. It should be done in an hour."

"Thank you, thank you," Harry grins, bowing his head in thanks and palms pressed together in front of him.

The old shopkeeper laughs, "It's nothing, young Harry. I'll gladly do it for someone who is so in love with his woman as you."
