Sage didn't even think about it, she sped through the woods to find Lydia but she ended up at the burned-down Hale house. Her eyes narrowed into a slit as she listened out for any heartbeats, there were two of course but one was so erratic it almost sounded scared.

"Where is he?" She heard Derek mumble as she stepped into the house, the vampire ignored the reply still trying to search the house and her bond for Lydia but she came up short. Sage stepped into the room only to see Deaton crouched over a light-headed Derek but she also sensed something else. Like death.

"Where is she?" Derek knew who the vampire was talking about but he didn't know how to tell her that Lydia was the reason a psychotic werewolf was on the loose.

"I don't know."

Sage squinted her eyes from the sound of his heartbeat, "Your lying."

"He's not." She snapped her head towards Deaton, "You may have heard his heartbeat rise but it's not because he knows where she is. It's because he doesn't know how to tell you what happened here."

Sage had no idea what the vet was talking about, all she wanted to do was find Lydia. She had tried calling and texting her when she left the party but she came up with nothing and as far as their bond went, it felt like there was a wall up like something or someone was blocking the link the two had.

Sage's eyes wandered over to the gaping hole in the wooden floor, she didn't know how she missed that when she walked in here but now it intrigued her. Her head tilted to the side once she caught the whiff of death but there was something else that made her blood boil.

"There is no fucking way HE'S ALIVE!"

"Sage—"

"—It doesn't matter anyway, because I'm gonna kill him."

Derek ignored the vampire, Deaton helped the werewolf stand but Derek still had questions for the vet. "how about you tell me what you're doing here, and why you're helping me?"

"Helping your family actually used to be a pretty important part of my life. Helping you was a promise I made to your mother." Deaton said making Derek look at him shocked.

"You're the one my sister talked about. She said you're a kind of adviser?" Derek said,

"He's more than that, the man knows everything and anything about the supernatural." Sage cut in with annoyance, she was still pissed about a certain werewolf being alive and she was a little worried that Lydia had something to do with it. What was she thinking, she knew Lydia was somehow involved but of course she wasn't mad- she just hoped the girl was okay.

"I have some advice that you need to listen to very closely right now. What Peter managed to do doesn't come without a price. He'll be physically weak, so he'll rely on the strength of his intelligence, his cunning. He's gonna come at you. He'll try to twist his way inside your head, preying on your insecurities. He'll tell you that he's the only way you can stop Gerard. Do not trust him." Deaton voiced causing Derek to look away from him shamefully, Derek knew that he trusted Peter before and it almost cost him everything but he wouldn't make that mistake again.

"I don't trust anyone." Derek said, "I know, if you did, you might be the Alpha you like to think you are. And unfortunately, the one person you should trust? Doesn't trust you at all, but he trusts her though." Sage furrowed her eyebrows at the man in confusion, she didn't understand what he was insinuating. There was no way Scott trusted her, he always voiced his discomfort with her ideas of killing.

Derek looked over at the tall blonde with an expression he couldn't even decipher, he had hated the idea of a vampire being in the town he grew up in. Vampires and werewolves didn't get along at all and when she first stepped into town she had threatened the werewolf. But now there was something that had grown on the Hale man, he didn't know what it was that got to him but he wasn't brushing it away. Maybe Deaton was right, maybe he needed to put trust into the right people and maybe it started with Sage.
