I remained immersed in the contemplation of the landscape, with its wild tranquility. This quiet place seemed to be safe from everything. It was easy to imagine living here for the rest of my life. It had been three months since I'd started waking up every morning in the middle of this Wild West-like nature, and not a single day did I regret having left everything for him.
The horses were galloping over the hills in the distance, reminding me how priceless freedom was. I closed my eyes to enjoy the first rays of sun on my skin before leaning against the wooden railing of the pen.
Suddenly I felt arms around my waist and kisses on my neck.
"I don't like it when you get up before me," Yeraz whispered in my ear.
Still with my back to him, I put my hand on his cheek.
"I like this time of the day. When dawn says goodbye to the night."
Yeraz spun me around so that we were facing each other. He looked more attractive than ever in his jeans and white t-shirt. Although different, he still exuded that magnetic charisma and natural authority.
His nose gently caressed mine. I flinched and reminded myself to breathe.
"I'm glad you called your mom and brother to come to see us," I said in a whisper.
Yeraz slightly stepped back and took my hand in his. He brought it to his lips to kiss my wedding ring.
"It's time I made up with Hadriel. The day I married you, I realized just how wrong what I did to him was. God, if you and he had--"
I put my finger over his mouth to calm him down.
"It would never have happened. You know that."
Yeraz nodded. His anger faded.
"Yes, I know. And as far as my mother is concerned, I have the impression that she's more looking forward to seeing my wife again."
I couldn't help but laugh.
"I'll never get tired of hearing that word in your mouth," I said with a tender sigh.
"Let's go eat breakfast, Mrs. Khan."
I nodded and kissed him with desire and love, and then we walked towards the house, our fingers entwined.
