"Alex, this plan sucks." Chris said. It was a dark night out. Chris and Alex were both wearing hoodies, and both of them also covered their faces, because Evilor's guards were walking all around the city. "This was the best plan I could think of. Maybe next time, before you complain, you give me a better idea.. We can go back if you want to." Alex said. "I guess this is the best we can do." Chris answered. "Alright, so, just to recap, we are going to break into our old school, and find a book that would tell us information about Evilor, and how we could possibly defeat him. I think it's easiest to get in from the back door." Alex said more to himself than Chris. "And why would there be a book about killing immortal creatures in our school? Do you even know how stupid that sounds?" Chris said. "Of course there isn't going to be like a full-on tutorial how to kill Evilor, that sounds like a YouTube-clickbait title anyways. What we are trying to find there, is an informational book about Evilor or some other immortal leaders. We could get some valuable information out of that." Alex explained. "This better be worth our time." Chris said. After the boys got closer to the school, they realized that they have a problem to face. "I did not realize that the gates were closed when the school isn't open." Alex said. Chris looked at him and said "I thought you had a plan." "Well have you ever seen these gates closed? I didn't even know that they could be closed! God damn it..." Alex was thinking. Chris was staring at the ground. "This is the worst plan I've ever heard of in my entire life." "Enough arguing, we need to figure out another way to get inside. Only way I can think of would be that we climb over that wall..." Alex thought. "And how are we going to do that?" Chris asked. "Well, in case something like this would happen, I decided to bring a rope!" Alex said. "What? Did you predict this whole thing, or did you just want to play Indiana Jones if you'd see some Evilor's soldiers?" Chris asked. "Maybe a bit of both." Alex replied, took the biggest rock he could find from the ground, attached it to the end of the rope, and threw the rock and the rope over the wall. "Did you think, that if someone sees us climbing over this wall, they are going to call a police?" Chris thought. "Too late now." Alex said, grabbed the rope and started climbing. "Well, here goes nothing." Chris said and started climbing over the wall as well.
"I really thought that yesterday would've been our last time here." Chris said while landing on the ground. The school yard looked exactly like it used to. A few trees here and there, couple of benches and a small field to play football or something else in. Alex had already started walking towards the school, so Chris had to run a little bit to reach him. "The doors are probably locked, aren't they?" he asked. "Shut up Chris, I'm trying to listen." Alex said quietly. "Listen to what? Music?" Chris said. "There could be a night guard inside. Never thought about that, did you?" Alex said. The boys had reached the main doors of the school. "Yep, it's locked." Chris said after trying to pull the door open. "Congratulations, Sherlock. But do you know what's not locked? That window right there!" Alex said and pointed at the window. The boys started walking closer to it. "What part of the school will this window lead us?" Chris asked. "I'm not completely sure, but I think it leads us to the cafeteria." Alex answered. Alex grabbed the window handle, and pulled it open. "I was a bit hungry anyways." Chris mumbled as he climbed to the school's cafeteria. Everything was dark there, and Chris thought it was weird. After all, they had never seen their school not lit up. "It feels weird to see the cafeteria like this. Usually there are hundreds of people eating at the same time and making a lot of noise, now it's completely silent. Anyways, take this, Chris." Alex climbed inside the cafeteria, and passed a flashlight to Chris. "Are you sure there aren't any nightguards wandering around this place? 'Cause if there are, I'm dead. Evilor controls this city and he would get to know instantly about this if we were caught." Chris said. Alex didn't say anything for a little while. "There shouldn't be anyone here apart from us. The faster we get this done, the better." Alex said and started walking towards the doors of the cafeteria. Chris saw a package of bread that someone had left on the table. He hadn't eaten anything before they came here. Chris took a piece of bread and started jogging for a little while to reach Alex. "Where did you get that?" Alex asked and looked at the piece of bread. Chris continued to eat the bread and said "When you are hungry, you seem to find food all around the place. Even if it looks a bit suspicious." Alex stared at Chris for a few seconds. "Should I be worried about the fact that you took a god damn piece of bread from a place you absolutely wasn't allowed to take from?" he asked. "Nope." Chris said while eating the bread. "Well, anyways, we have stuff to do here. The library is this way." Alex said and started walking up the stairs. The library was located in the highest floor of the school, so Chris and Alex had to walk up some stairs for quite a while.
Finally, the boys had reached the library. Chris grabbed the library door handle, and pulled the door open. "There has to be thousands of books here. How are we going to find something that could help us?" he asked. "I know that at some point I have seen a book here that has some information about weapons or tools that were used in the past to kill immortal creatures. I used that book for my history presentation." Alex said. Chris didn't respond, but instead he took the first book from the bookshelf he could see and started reading it. "Nothing here." he said quickly and put the book back into the shelf. Chris and Alex spent a pretty long time in that library. In their heads, it felt like hours, but because neither one of them had a clock, they didn't know how much time had exactly passed. Occasionally, either one of them would shout "Hey, I've found something interesting!", but those moments always ended up in a disappointment, when there actually wasn't anything helpful in the book they had found. Until, Alex found something. "Hey Chris, come and take a look at this." he said. "Should I even bother? Is it going to be another book about tutorials on how to make 3AM videos on the internet?" Chris asked. "No, no. This is the book I was trying to find!" Alex shouted happily. Chris ran to Alex quickly, and started reading the pages. The book was huge. It must've contained at least over 3000 pages. "Look at that! 'The Sword of Immortality'? That was apparently used to kill a dictator just known as 'Ethan' around 200 years ago. The one who killed him isn't mentioned, but it's told that he threw the sword into an ocean, and the sword was never seen again." Alex read. "Very helpful. Look at this, 'The Banhammer', was apparently used by a mysterious man that went under the codename of 'Banos'. What are these nicknames? This books says that he managed to kill himself using this weapon, and the hammer was also destroyed in the process. I'd really like to know the context behind this story." Chris said. "Look at this! 'The Bracelet of Dimensions'! This one still exists! According to this book, the bracelet is hidden inside a temple located in a land far away, known as 'The Wanderland'. By the way, why does every single weapon we just read about have the word 'the' in front of their names? Sounds dumb." Alex said. "Alex, I don't think this bracelet is used to kill anyone. In the book it says, that it can seal people to another dimension. But... If that's the case... We don't have to kill anyone. We can just seal Evilor into a dimensional prison!" Chris thought. "Shut up, Chris! We can't make that much of a noise or we are going to get ca-" Alex didn't get to finish his sentence, before the boys heard a voice behind them. "Hey! Who's there? What are you doing in here?!".
"It's the nightguard!" Chris yelled in panic while a light that came out of a flashlight was shining the corridor behind them. "Run!" the boys ran as quickly as possible to another corridor in front of them. They heard the nightguard's footsteps, he was following them. Chris and Alex ran down a staircase, and ended up in a hallway full of lockers. "We should hide in the lockers!" Chris said quietly. Both Chris and Alex picked a locker, and they hid inside as fast but also as quietly as possible. Now everything was silent. Chris could only hear his own breathing. Quickly, he heard a door opening, and saw a light that was shining through the hallway. "Show yourself! I know you are in here! Let's not make this difficult!" the nightguard shouted. Chris closed his eyes and tried to hold his breath. Would everything end here? Would the nightguard take Chris to Evilor's soldiers? If that was the case, it would be the end for him. Never had Chris before in his life prayed as much as in this situation. The footsteps were getting closer and closer. They became louder every second. Until, they became more quiet again. The nightguard had walked away from the lockers. The boys heard a door close. Chris and Alex both opened the lockers and stepped outside. "How in the hell are we going to get out of here?" Chris said. "The nightguard must've locked every possible way out!". Alex held a big book in his hands. "Thankfully, I was able to get this book with me. I think the best way out would be in the cafeteria, the same window we came from. We just have to pray that it's not locked." Alex said and started walking down the hallway. Chris followed him. Both of the boys walked slowly and quietly, in case the nightguard would spot them again. Thankfully, they didn't run up to him on the way to the cafeteria. "You got to be kidding me. The nightguard locked the damn window!" Alex said. The boys heard footsteps behind them. "I've caught you now!" the nightguard yelled and started walking towards the boys. Chris did the only thing that came to his mind. He took the closest chair he could see in the cafeteria, and threw it at the window. The window broke. Chris and Alex jumped out of the window and started running into the darkness as fast as they possibly could.
