The Unpredictable

Chapter 4

Finally I arrived home. After a long day of stress and pain in my legs I took off my high heels and threw them on the ground, somewhere that I didn't care much where they went. I was extremely tired, I just wanted to swim in my bed with no thoughts in my mind. My father always told me that "thinking is the most dangerous thing that can occupy to one's mind. Once a thought comes to the mind, other ideas follow like a river; the deeper you swim in your mind, the longer you suffer to get out." He was a very wise man and his words were always remember, because he knew how to make people listen to him even if he spoke for hours.

I walked to my room and dressed suitably to get in my bed. Before I dive into my bed, I picked up a small wall photo that was hanging beside my bed. I looked at the image for a quite long time, "Trust me that I will get revenge for what they have done to you," I said to the image of a person figure holding a child in his arms.

I started to think about the guy I met tonight, who was he? I was thinking if he was a threat to me and Adam and to our missions? I was not able to remember has face it was just the mask and outfit that was stuck in my mind. How could I not realize and be so reckless to the point I tell someone my name; he didn't even tell me his. I was thinking too much about it and it was making me more tired. The only way I can escape out of these ideas is to Listen to some music before going to sleep, it really helps to get rid of stress. Music Leads you to a different world that you can control and repeat multiple times with no regrets at all. Later on, I fell asleep easily after listening to some music.

In the next morning I woke up a bit late than usual, it was about 10:30 am. I got up from my bed cleaned my face and made myself something to eat. I opened the TV to a random channel, and as usual, there was nothing on the TV to watch. I closed it again and sat in a quiet room for God knows how long looking out of the window counting how many cars drove by my house just to distract my thoughts. Suddenly my phone was buzzing. I take a look at it and it was a private number, so I picked it up quickly.

"Hello, this is 'ME' again, Anna." a voice that I recognize said.

"Oh, hello!" I said as putting my fork down on the table.

"I just wanted to make sure that yesterday went all good?"

"Oh yes," I said, "I also met Adam," I added an information that he already knows.

"That's great. I don't have a lot of time these days I am going to be busy with my work, so you wouldn't be hearing from me for a while. I am going to add Adam now to our call so I do not have to repeat myself twice." He spoke.

We waited for a few seconds, then Adam picked his phone up. "Hello sir, how are you doing?" Adam said. I don't think he realizes that I am on the phone as well but, whatever.

"Great. I am calling to make sure that you and Anna are ready for tonight?" He spoke.

"I have been waiting for this day for long time, I am ready trust me. " I said while smiling knowing that they wouldn't see my face.

"Oh hey Anna, she was very prefect yesterday; I mean you guys trained her very well." Adam said excitedly. He counited talking, "Can't wait to see you again tonight, Anna! By the way, I didn't get your phone number." Adam started to laugh.

I didn't replay to what Adam said because I don't think I know what prefect job I exactly did yesterday. And does he think it's the perfect time for him to ask about my phone number? He is very crazy and that's for sure.

"You guys can talk as much as you want but stay focused on your tasks, and I repeat, do NOT make any stupid movements. Understood? It can put anyone's life in danger and we do not want that to happen. Be very cautious, open your eyes and ears and always be concentrated." HE spoke. His words truly scared me and it reminded me of yesterday at the party. Shall I tell them or well they be mad and fire me? Maybe not now, I will tell them later, when is that? Not too sure.

"Yes. We will" I and Adam said at the same time.

"Great, I'll go for now. Good luck on your first task." And he left the conversation.

I and Adam were left alone on the line. We both were silent for a few seconds. Then Adam interrupted the silences, "so, I will see you tonight! Bye for now Anna," and that's all he said.

"Yes bye." We both hang up.

I thought that he was going to talk without a stop, but I guess he isn't in the mood. I think that's a good thing for me, because I am also not in a very good mood at the moment to talk. Although, I really want to know more about Adam; he is very mysterious and one can't really understand him at sometimes. He has been doing this job for a while now and I guess he is deep in his role. I think working more with help will help me know more about him. I wonder how much he knows about me or is he clueless as me? My thoughts started drifting to our mission tonight, it is the first one for me it better turn well, I should show everyone that I am worthy for choosing me for this job. Hopefully I don't ruin or do something stupid again tonight.
