The Unpredictable

Chapter 5

The first problem I am facing at the moment is that I have never been to a bar before, and I am just standing here at the front door of this bar not knowing if I should enter or not. I finally bring the courage and enter this mysterious looking bar, and the music is too loud and now I think I lost one of my senses. Wherever I look around I can't stop noticing the strange looking people everywhere around me, how can one enjoy being in such a place? Some of them where dancing others just standing and chatting with people or you have those who just sit in a table alone. By the look on my face one would notice that I have never been to a bar before, and why would I ever? I am only 20 years old and I have been trapped for a couple of months away from society. Now I am let free to punish the evil and get my revenge. Just like a bird escaping its cage hunting for something to eat.

I go to the bar station and sit waiting for Adam to arrive. The bartender comes up and stands in front of me waiting for me to order something to drink.

"Can I have some water please?" I asked the bartender without thinking too much about what other drinks I can have. 

The bartender laughed as if I said a funny joke, "you came here to drink water lady? Are you afraid of getting drunk or what?"

I, at the other hand did not see that it was funny at all.

"She will have Cola and rum cocktail and one from me also, please." A voice came from behind my shoulders. This tall guy takes the seat next to mine.

"Adam, it has been a while since I have seen here! It's a pleasure having you back." The bartender said and then she looked at me, "She with you."

He nods and looks at me. "She is my friend." Adam surely looks different without the mask, now I can see his face clearly. He looked very tired and seemed he didn't have a good sleep or something is up with him.

Then the bartender leaves us alone to bring our drinks, Adam suddenly hands me an envelope. "Open it," Adam said.

I open the envelop finding an image of a guy inside. A guy with bright blue eyes and a blond hair. I looked back at Adam and said, "that's the guy we saw yesterday at the party, the guy with the blue suit and black feathery hat?"

"Bingo! young lady. That is the guy. If you turn your back you will see standing alone there" He swing his body facing our victim. The bartender brings our drinks and leaves, Adam starts sipping his drink immediately.

" Well I wouldn't waste any more time" I said as standing up to go meet this guy, but before I could go Adam stopes me.

" Be careful young lady, we are not in a hurry we can wait. I mean look around, too many people everywhere we don't know how to trust. Also, remember we don't want to get in trouble." He said as he was looking at me.

" We don't have to trust anyone then. I am going to talk with him. He might leave at any moment who knows. " I insists on going and I take my drink with me leaving Adam sitting and sipping his coke and rum alone. I walk along the crowded dance floor where I noticed many people were drunk not able to stand on their own foot. I was lucky that our guy was standing alone with no company to distract us both from talking. "Hey" I start the conversation with him and take a first sip from the drink.

"Hey beautiful girl! Do I know you?" He said happy to have someone come and speak to him.

"No, not really, but you will forever know me after tonight boy." I go closer to his ears to whisper, " You see that guy sitting there." pointing toward where Adam was sitting.

"Yeah, the guy wearing the black leather jacket. What about him?" He speaks in confusion.

I go back once again to whisper in the man's ears, " He told me..." I back off to take a sip from my drink, and go back to counite my sentence, "that he will kill you if you don't run away boy." The man looks at me and back to Adam more confused at what is happening. I started laughing hysterically and walks away, the man surely thought that I was crazy. I start looking at Adam waiting for him to make a move to walk toward him or do something. He surely wasn't going to sit there and just watch. The man was starting to collect his stuff and ready to leave. However, within few seconds the front door of the bar pushes wide open and the police start entering. I was surprised as I wasn't expecting the police to be involved in this situation or be here at all. Adam gesture for me to follow him to the back door which I am assuming he used before to run away when he was in trouble.

I was still in shock when we get outside. I take a look at the front of the bar and there were many police cars parked in the front. "I thought the police was not involved in this. How did they know? Why they are here?" I couldn't hold the many questions that are occupying my mind at the moment. There must be an explanation how the police knew about our secret mission. It cannot be a coincidence. Adam must have realized that I was annoyed at the situation, but he just looked at me speechless.

"I don't know Anna. I also have no idea why the police are involved in this. But they might have known about his criminal acts and came to arrest him, or they came for something and someone else. I am as clueless as you are." He spoke.

"Then why didn't we stay and see? Why did we leave?"

"You ask a lot of question young lady. If we stayed there, they might have taken use or maybe not, but it was dangerous inside and it is my job to protect you young lady. "

"Can you stop saying 'young lady' for the love of God. My name is Anna!" I felt my voice raising and I tried to calm myself down. I didn't want to seem rude but it was very annoying at this point by how many times he called me young lady, he surely can remember a simple name as Anna.

"I know well your name is Anna."

" Good." I can see that he feels bad about something so I didn't want to argue more about my name at this moment.

"Don't be mad, it is okay. So many other missions will be a failure for us and that's fine." Adam defiantly did notice that I was mad and somewhat sad about the situation.

I stood there just thinking how that was my first mission and I failed. I was worried that the people would be disappointed in what it has been done. Will they blame me?

"Anna?" Adam cuts my chain of thoughts and lead me to a way to a very fancy car. " You want me to give you a ride?" He spoke.

"No I can find my own way home. Thank you!" And there where I leave Adam alone in the dark standing beside his car. I felt that he is worried about me but I was fine or I will be.

I walk in the dark streets under the light of the moon. Maybe Adam is right many failures might come, but I knew that this will be just the beginning and what will come is way better for us. We will get our revenge and kill THEM one by one until their species vanish into thin air.
