...

"It's a four leaf clover grimoire." the crowd whispered in shock.

A boy standing at the far corner of the tower raised his brow in surprise. The four leaf clover grimoire  was a rare occurrence and he did not expect Yuno to get it. A slight proud smirk curled on his lip, his green eyes locked on the tall figure of his childhood friend.

Suddenly Yuno grabbed his grimoire from mid air and turned around, his golden gaze clashing with Asta's as he loudly declared his next words.

"I will become the wizard king." he said his voice laced with determination and conviction.

A short silence fell in the tower with the two of them staring down at each other.

Asta snorted out a sarcastic laugh," Well you better hope that your four leaf clover can get you enough luck for that."  he said and started to walk out of the tower.

"Wait, isn't that the boy that can't even use magic?"

"They say he is cursed to not have magic, that's why he was abandoned at the church."

"Isn't he our age? Did he even get a grimoire?"

"As if? Useless people like him can't get grimoires"

"What are you saying? Everyone get's a grimoire once they are old enough!"

"Hah, guess that doesn't work for a magicless runt like him."

Their words were followed by a smirk from the ash haired boy as he leisurely walked out of the grimoire tower, completely unhurried and unaffected by the taunts of the crowd.

He anticipated that he might not get a grimoire since he didn't have magic. What good would a magical spell book do to a magicless boy? He only came to see if there was the slight chance of him receiving one and also because it was a very important day to his friend.

He didn't get a grimoire in the end but he was there when Yuno was awarded his.

But he wasn't concerned about not getting a grimoire in the slightest, after all, he didn't need a stupid magical book.

"Asta! Wait up!" a voice called.

The ash haired boy turned to look at the source of the sound.

"Sister? What's up?" he asked, when she caught up to him.

The nun panted, slightly out of breath," Where are you going? Would you like to celebrate with us?" she asked.

He shrugged his hands stuffed in his pockets," I'll drop by the church later, but I gotta do something important now." he said.

The blue eyed nun furrowed her black brows," Wait! You are not upset are you?" she asked.

Asta barked out a laugh," Why would I be?" he asked waving at her as he turned to leave," See you later, Sister Lily!" he said.

Sister Lily watched as he walked further away from her with distress clear on her face.

Asta had always been a peculiar child, even as a little boy. Every living being have a certain amount of mana attributed to their existence, but he was different, not a lick of mana in his body.

Asta had shown her the tattoo like marks on his wrists, and told her that they were curses, limiters the stop him from being too powerful. She reconed that it was the curse that stopped  his mana so unnaturally.

Magic meant everything in a world like theirs. Growing up without having magic while everyone else had it must have been hard. A crippled person would be accepted better than a magicless person, the stigma behind it was simply massive.
