Chapter four
Len's p.o.v
I trudged along the sidewalk, looking down at my phone. I've never felt regret to this extent before, it was torturous. I wasn't planning on confessing like that, every time I thought about it I cringed in disgust. If I was in Luka's shoes in this situation, I wouldn't come within 5 feet of myself.
After entering my house I tossed my bag over to the side and entered the kitchen. I grabbed a banana and began to snack, just as my mom came in through the front door. “Back already?” I asked, surprised that she had been back when the sun was still out. She smiled as she slipped off her shoes, sighing in relief. “Today was pretty slow, so there wasn't much use in me staying long anyways. So, was school okay?” She questioned, sitting at the bar beside me. “Decent I guess.” I mumbled through the food in my mouth. I silently prayed that she wouldn't ask me more than that. She opened her mouth to respond, but the sound of feet coming down the stairs cut her off.
“Oh, hey mom.” Rin said, walking into the kitchen. “Whoa Len, what's with that face?” I realized that I had been staring off into the space, wondering how to handle my dilemma. “You do seem a bit distant, sweetheart. What's on your mind?” My mother asked, smiling brightly. Rin stared at me in suspense, a grin spread across her face. “Ooo, yeah, do tell!” she chimed. “Okay, fine.” I gave in, turning to Rin. “But you have to leave.” Rin's features dropped, looking hurt with a hint of annoyance. “Fine! I didn't really want to hear what you have to say anyways!” She pouted, tromping up the stairs and slammed her bedroom door behind her. This wasn't anything new, Rin had always been a drama queen.
There was silence between my mother and I for a brief moment, until she spoke up. “So?”
I cleared my throat, and faced her. “Well...” I began, unsure of how I should word this. “I'm having... issues. I did something that I really regret, and I'm scared I just ruined a perfectly good friendship.” I admitted, squeezing my eyes shut. I bit my lower lip, anxiously waiting for her to respond.
“That's a bit vague. I don't want to be too nosey, but was this friend a girl or a guy?”
I tensed up at her sudden question, feeling my face flush as I thought about why we were having this discussion in the first place. “A girl.”
She smirked, but quickly erased it. I knew that she must have figured it out by now, she was pretty good at reading people. Plus I've been told I'm an open book, so that doesn't help. “A girl, huh? I think I understand now.” Saw that coming.
“I think the best thing to do is talk to her face to face about it. What's the worst that could happen?” She said, smiling in encouragement. I could lose control I thought to myself. I could come up with lots of scenarios where everything can go wrong. Then again, I couldn't think of any other approach to the situation, so this would have to be it.
“Okay, yeah.” I agreed. “I'll do that then. Thanks for your help, Mom.” she smiled and ruffled my hair. “Go for it! I'm sure it'll all work out in the end, you'll see.”

I slowly walked into my room, drowsiness falling upon me. Yawning, I changed out of my blue and black uniform and crawled into bed. I looked at my clock, reading 8:46. All this worrying had made me exhausted. I began to feel anxious about tomorrow, slightly looking forward to getting this mess taken care of, but frightened to how Luka might respond. I stared at the ceiling, my mind racing.
Ah, that was awfully short. I really wanted to give you guys something though, I've been terrible at making chapters at a decent rate. I'm going to be updating more, but the chapters will be shorter like this one. I'll shoot for a chapter a week, so hopefully it'll work out. x3
