Marinette's Introduction

Marinette stood on her balcony, gazing at the stars. Her hair was still soaked from the rain, but the clouds had temporarily cleared, and she could just barely catch a glimpse of the big dipper.

She turned and shook the lingering droplets from her hair. "Tikki?" She called.

The little red kwami poked her head out from behind a sun chair, just barely visible by the faint lantern light. "Yes Marinette?"

"I'm going to bed," Marinette said. "If you get hungry I've left a plate of cookies out on my desk."

Tikki nodded. "Sweet dreams."

Marinette climbed through the hatch that led to her bedroom and landed softly on her bed. She rummaged through her drawers, and eventually finding a pair of warm pajamas, she quickly changed.

The only light in the room came from her desk lamp, casting a warm, comforting glow onto her desk. She wandered over and perused her most recent project; sketches for Alya's scarf.

Just the other day, her best friend had been shivering in the courtyard after school, complaining about the cold weather. Marinette's first thought was to lend her a coat, which she did, but soon thought of a more long-term solution.

And there the sketches lay, for a burnt orange scarf tipped with cream. She planned to knit said scarf, of course. Knitting was one of her secret passions, and though she wasn't as skilled at it as sewing, it brought her as much joy.

She shut her sketchbook and turned off the lamp. As she clambered up her ladder, she saw a blur of red out of the corner of her eye. It settled on her chaise and gave a little shake before chowing down on a chocolate chip cookie.

Marinette settled into bed, finding great comfort in the warm flannel pajama pants and the soft socks that her mother had gifted her. She put on her headphones, switched on her audiobook, and was asleep within a few moments.

If anyone is reading this, hey! I'm Raevynn! Sorry this first excerpt is so short, it's my first time posting on here and I'm a little rusty writing fanfiction. I'll be posting Adrien's opening chapter in a couple of days, and then we'll get on to the real story.

I also think it's important to note that I won't be updating this very often, considering I have some other fanfics and original writing I've been working on. I told myself, when I wrote my first draft, that I'd keep this short. I strayed from that path and my first draft is already running long, so you can look forward to ten (ish) chapters, probably more. (Excluding these first two, of course.)

Thanks for reading!
