Marinette's alarm startled her awake, and she hit her head on the ceiling. She sighed and stumbled out of bed and down the ladder.
Tikki flitted over to her. "Good morning Marinette," she squeaked. "You're up awfully early!"
"Not by choice," Marinette grumbled. "What time is it?"
"It's seven," Tikki replied. "You actually heard your first alarm for once."
Marinette let her face fall into her hands. She could smell the first batch of croissants wafting upstairs, and was reminded that it was Friday. Her parents only baked fresh croissants on Fridays, and that meant today was important. She snapped her head up.
"Tikki, it's Friday!" she gasped.
The kwami rolled her eyes. "That's what the calendar says. Why's that such a big deal?"
"Tikki, today's the big day!" Marinette responded. "I'm finally going to talk to him."
Tikki's eyes lit up. "You mean-"
"I'm going to ask him to lunch!" Marinette was visibly shaking as she hurried around her room. She quickly threw on the clothes she had laid out on her chaise, ran a comb through her hair, and tied up her usual pigtails.
She rushed downstairs, hugged her parents, and grabbed a croissant before running out the door. Tikki hurried after her, just barely making it into Marinette's purse before the bluenette boarded the bus.

She was on her way to meet Alya, so they could walk together to school. Marinette took her phone from her purse, and saw four missed messages from Chat Noir. Two read as goodnight messages, and two were miscellaneous letters and numbers. She remembered that he hadn't been feeling well, and she inferred that he must have fallen asleep on his keyboard.
Me: "Are you feeling better, Chat?"
She didn't have to wait long for a response.
Chat: "Much. A cat always lands on his feet. ;}"
Me: "I thought for sure you'd be down to 8 lives."
Chat: "Was that a pun?!"
Me: "Mayyyybe."
Chat: "I'm so proud of you. :,)
There he went again, wrecking her train of thought.
Me: "I'm just glad you're ok. That seemed like a killer cold."
Chat: "I won't let a case of the sniffles keep me down for long, you know that."
Me: "I know. I should go though, this is my stop."
Chat: "Patrol tonight, right?"
Me: "Yep. Take it easy today, ok?"
Chat: "Ok. Have a good day! <3"
Me: "You too, kitty."
Marinette stepped off the bus and buzzed Alya. She headed upstairs to knock on her friend's door, but Alya beat her to it, flinging open the front door with her customary grin.
"Hey girl!" Alya tackled her with a hug.
Marinette laughed. "Good morning."
"So today's the day, right?" Alya asked. "You're really gonna ask him?"
Marinette stumbled through her words. "I- I think so. I don't know, probably? Yeah."
"Well you don't sound very sure," her friend gave her a reassuring look. "Hey, what if we make it a double date?"
