Outside, her smile blinds like that of a blazing sun.

No one thinks to conquer the initial blinding, to follow the light and see where it leads.

Inside, she has shattered into a million pieces.

Hollow, deep and dark depression,

Spiraling out of control,

Out of her grasp.

A padlock on her heart, the key hidden far, far away,

Thrown into an unimaginable feeling of peace,

Of quiet.

So close,

Yet so far.

Unattainable to her.

And to those around;

Watching ,smiling, laughing,

Unaffected by those blank eyes,

That sudden disinterest.

She stays silent, burying the sorrow, succumbing to face it alone.

Easy.

No one would understand, anyways.

Would they?

Could she?

Break that wall of stone, the pent up emotion she carries,

Every.

Single.

Day.

Is it possible?

To let someone in, to allow them to walk through the heart into a cold place...

Nor warmth, or comfort to be found?

Her heart picks up pace,

A sudden hope arises.

She searches.

Yet,

The crowd around her acts,

Looks all the same.

No.

Not yet.
