In order to prevent the apocalyptically powerful "Very Cool Gun" from falling into the hands of an interplanetary empire of malicious conquerors, a group of rebels repeatedly send their premiere fighter to venture down into the depths of a confusing, ever-changing planet in an attempt to permanently destroy the weapon by throwing it into the planet's core.
