A boy came home from school. His face radiated happiness. He threw his backpack on the floor. Just loud enough for his mother upstairs to hear.

"Honey?"

"I'm home mommy!"

The woman came down the stairs. Her red hair flipped as she turned to put the basket in the laundry  room. "How was school?" She asked.

"Great! I got to do all of these fun activities for the last day of school!" He held up goodie bags.

"Fun! You know, when I was your age I didn't have this stuff. And we usually went home a week before Christmas Eve. Not on it."

"Well that seems like a Russian tradition." He said. "Anyways, do you wanna play legos? I'm gonna go get some."

"Okay. And then Christmas Eve lunch is all most done!"

The boy ran to his room. Meanwhile, the mom looked at her phone.

They wanted him.

They found him.

They found them.

She froze. She felt stiff. They knew he existed. Her son came back with the legos. "Son, why don't we go on an adventure?"

The boy smiled. "Yay!"

They hopped into their car and drove off. "Mommy, can you play my song?" The boy asked.

She smiled at him. "Of course." She clicked the button and it played.

The boy sang with the song.

"So, bye-bye, Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry"

He felt like this song was about him. He loved the singer, the story, the other instruments. Everything.

"Singin', "This'll be the day that I die
This'll be the day that I die""

After a bit of driving, they got to the mountains where a small log cabin waited for them. The boy didn't realize how snowy it would be, but the mom didn't either.
