Courtney POV

Scott's funeral was devastating. As he was lowered down into his grave his mom, siblings, and farm animals cried. Albertha made hog noises heartbroken as she said goodbye to her brother. I couldn't help but blame myself. I was the person who encouraged Gwen to go out with Scott and now he was dead. That's when I realized Gwen would take out anyone she knew was important to me. The real Gwen.. the real I loved was gone forever. I couldn't lose anyone else to her. There would be more deaths... even more funerals.

After the school prep rally for Scott I spent the rest of the day in the library. I began reading books on satanism by myself I came to a realization. Gwen was a succubus. It made sense. The way blood effected her or how she fed off of desire.

When I walked into the hallway I saw she was laughing and talking with Heather. Someone she'd always hated. I frowned looking at them as I imagined my best friend was covered in blood. As I was walking I bumped into Duncan.

"Hey Princess." Duncan smiled putting his arms around me. "I got our tickets for the prom. It's totally lame but you were so excited for it. So let's go together." He winked.

"I'm sorry but we can't go to the prom together... in fact we shouldn't go at all." I said looking up at him.

"Why not?" He asked looking like a sad punk puppy.

"We just can't." I said.

"You're dumping me?" Duncan asked offended.

"Just follow me." I sighed annoyed as I began to walking away. The two of us sat alone in the cafeteria.

"I love you but you're being really weird." Duncan said. "What's your problem."

"It's Gwen she's a total demon." I whispered.

"Always has been?" Duncan asked.

"No she's like a real demon." I said taking out a book. I found the bookmark page and handed it to Duncan to read.

"Dick Mobile tried to perform a demonic ritual on her. I lied and told them she was a virgin. And that's when they took her into the woods and murdered her. They wanted to try a demonic transference."

"Just dump me and don't make up bullshit." Duncan said looking sad. "I can't believe you'd make up such a weird story."

"No! I'm completely serious. She killed Cameron, Scott, and Cody. And after she drank their blood she became youthful and in the month she didn't have any blood she became weaker. You have to understand. The dance will be a buffet."

"You need help." Duncan said shaking his head and standing up. "We're through." He said flipping me off and leaving. I hated how angry Duncan was at me but maybe it was for the best. He wouldn't go to the dance and would be safe.

Even though I told my parents a million times I wasn't going to the dance they forced me to go. My mom even came back from her business trip and demanded I dressed up and got my hair done at a salon.

"You're not missing your precious prom Courtney. You'll regret not going." My mom said as she stood outside my room as I got dressed. "Plus I'm 100 percent sure your boyfriend will show up." She giggled. "The Nelsons raised such a handsome young man."My parents were weird. Mom loved Duncan and my dad despised him.

"I'm dressed." I sighed coming out of my room. Malu and my mom both squealed. I wore a sparkly purple gown and had my hair up in a complex ponytail. Malu took pictures as my mom began to cry. This was going to be a painful night. But at least I'd be able to watch over the boys at prom and keep them safe. Gwen wasn't taking another victim.
