Kook. That is the word that summed up Ares's life for the past 16 years. She was born into riches, known as Kook Princess the second. Of course, Sarah Cameron still owned the title of number one. William Andrews, Ares' father was the face of their wealth. He was one of the most respected men on the island. Second to Ward, maybe even tied. Ares Andrews wasn't even her real name, it's Eunoia Ares Andrews. She despised being called Eunoia, it was a trigger word of sorts. Thankfully she wasn't home enough to have to hear it often, and even when she was, she grew numb to it from her father. Nobody else on the island called her Eunoia, so as long as she could numb out the feeling of her father saying it, she would be okay.
"Ms. Andrews, are you there?" The phone echoed in her ears, snapping her out of her daze. "We have the DNA results."
"Sorry, the project was terminated, I don't need them. School's out anyways. I'm sorry for wasting your time." She said rubbing her forehead and hanging up. The final for biology was working with DNA tests to test the student's background, but she had been excused by her father from it, passing with an A.Summer break started only a week ago, there was so much time left for Ares to make the summer hers. After a few more minutes of sitting, staring at the wall thinking of what she wanted to do this summer, she decided to grab a pair of shoes and pull them on before sneaking out of the house before her dad had time to notice. She grabbed her keys out of the bin and hopped in the car, driving to who knows where.
Only five minutes later, she felt an impact on the side of her car, pushing her off the road and to a halt. Looking up, she rubbed her head, which was a little off focus from slamming it on the headrest.
"Shit, are you guys okay?" A voice was heard from what she made out to be a van that hit her.
"Yeah, we're all good back here," a girl's voice spoke up.
"Look what you did you, idiot," Another guy chimed in.
"Why don't you stop insulting me and check if the girl is okay imbeciles," A third boy added.Ares unbuckled her seatbelt and rubbed her head before forcing the door open and stepping out of the car, not realizing how lightheaded she had been. Before she could fall, two sets of hands held her arms up. One, a girl with long, curly hair, the other was a boy. After rubbing her eyes she saw it was the pogues. The rejects.
"Easy, sit down. You don't look too good. Are you injured?" John B asked, setting Ares down on the curb gently.
"I'm so sorry- I turned my head to the side for one second and-" The blonde boy said running over to the three. "Shit it's Princess the Second. I'm fucking toast. I'll start planning my funeral."
"I'm fine. Just a little dizzy from being slammed off the road. Don't sweat it JJ. Trust me when I say I don't want my dad to know just as bad as you don't want him to know." Ares said pulling her hair into a bun on the bottom of her head.
"Shit, you have a little-" Kiara said before pulling out a small piece of glass from Ares's shoulder.
"Thanks," Ares said with a small wince. "Are any of you guys hurt?" She added looking up as Pope and Sarah started their way over.
"We're all good. Our ride is kinda invincible." JJ added rubbing the back of his neck nervously.
"Ares? Oh my god, are you okay?" Sarah asked running over. God someone needed to get her a sports bra.
"I'm fine. And I'm not answering that question to anyone else." Ares said standing up but being sat back down by John B.
"Can we all just leave and pretend this didn't happen. Please. Leave my car it's fine. You guys can go." Ares spoke, just wanting to leave before anyone saw her call her father.
"Your pupils are unevenly dilated. You definitely have a concussion and maybe whiplash. You shouldn't be going anywhere." Pope said looking Ares in the eyes.
"Yeah, sorry Princess but you're coming with us. It's either that or a hospital." John B said crouching down beside Ares's knees which were propped up.Ares just stared at him for a moment, before nodding. She wanted to make this summer worthwhile, and the Pogues were genuinely nice people. Being with them wasn't something she was against.
"Ares! Are you okay? Holy shit!" She heard someone's voice running towards her. Topper. Her boyfriend. She quickly looked at the group before getting up and sprinting to their car.
"Let's go! Now!" She yelled and they nodded all sprinting in, John B in the driver's seat this time. Without question, he stepped on the gas and they sped off, leaving Topper standing in front of Ares's wrecked ride."Ares- Hey- John B, hurry up. She's starting to look faint. She needs to get some cold rags at the house." Sarah said pulling Ares down to lay down.
"It's fine, I'm just tired," Ares said with a fake laugh.
"No, it's not. You need to cool off, you hit your head hard, and you're the one with the fainting issue." Sarah responded and Ares closed her eyes.
"Fine." She shot back, irritated she brought that up in front of everyone. "Fuck you, Sarah." She added as she started to drift off.
