It's not every day that you learn something new about yourself. Some people may learn that, 'Hey, I kinda do like sushi!' or 'maybe yellow isn't such a bad color.' But not everyone learns that they are a Pokemon.

"This world is inhabited by creatures called Pokémon! For some people, Pokémon are pets. Others use them for fights. Yet others study Pokémon as a profession. Each have their own special abilities and talents. Due to a strange genetic experiment conducted a very long time ago, a very small number of humans developed the ability to morph into these creatures and maintain the abilities of the naturally occurring Pokemon equivalent." That's what the principal explained during the orientation for school. Well, I guess enough people have this genetic defect that they could make one school for them in every state.

The orientation is two weeks long, and this is when people appear in front of the class and attempt to display what Pokemon they are able to become. I was entertained when, out of the first 5 students, 4 of them were bug-type. This was going to be entertaining.

So there are 41 students in my grade here. I met a girl that is a Meowth, and a pair of boys who are an Ekans and a Koffing. If I remember anything from History class, this team will not end up on top. There was a girl who talked to me before class even started; she seemed really nice but she didn't know how to change on command like me, so I didn't feel so alone. I wasn't particularly happy about not knowing what kind of Pokemon I was able to turn into, but I do know  I am the only one of my kind in class.

This school was a boarding house, so everyone got a room and some even had to have roommates. I was glad to be stuck with the girl that couldn't change, and we became close friends. We both knew exchanging names was basically pointless since they were going to change anyway. But we would practice together as often as possible, knowing it would pay off.

When we went outside for training after a week, Me and my roommate still couldn't get our 'transformation' to work no matter how hard we tried. So more often than not, we just found a shady spot under a tree and watched the others change, and practice that on our own. One pair of people already became a couple, go figure someone always does. A caterpie and a weedle, if you can believe. How ironic. When they were in their Pokemon forms, they didn't do anything but curl around each other and do... whatever it was they were doing.  One girl was a ditto and kept on changing into everyone else, which was pretty cool. She was a fun person to watch. After a while people started calling her Kat (Like coppycat) which I initially thought was mean, but she seemed to like it.

On day 10 or so, My roommate was finally able to make her transformation into Pokemon form. She was a Skitty. We were both really excited for her to be able to finally get it to work, But that meant now, I was the only one in our entire grade that was unable to change into my Pokemon form.

After a while, people stopped paying attention to me at all, most even forgot that I had a name, since I didn't get one based on my Pokemon form (since I didn't know what it was yet and neither did anyone else). If I had no Pokemon form, I had no name. I soon had no friends. My old roommate went off and started her own circle of friends with Kat, the ditto.

As soon as everyone else was able to transform into their Pokemon forms, people started forming teams. A team is a small group of people who continue to work together throughout their years at the Pokemon school. Our first year, we are only allowed to have teams of three, but since there was an odd number of students, we ended up with 13 teams of three and one team of 2. The team of two was me and a girl named Mini.  For some reason, nobody wanted to be on the team with Mini which didn't really make sense for me, since Mini was able to change into a Zorua, which is a pretty rare Pokemon in the wild.

After the teams were decided and we learned who we were to spend most of our time with, I got to know Mini real well, but I never told her anything about me, and I only practiced trying to change alone.

And that is how life started for me in PKMN Training.
