𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐘 often say never take things for granted.
But we always take things for granted. Small things especially.
Waking up every morning.
Eating.
Drinking water.
Having a roof over our heads.
We think these things are normal. And they are. But in the grand scheme of things, these normal tasks are considered blessings. Especially to those who aren’t able to do these tasks on a daily.
I never really understood, until that day…

It was a normal day for me. I had a doctor's appointment in Tokyo so I got pulled out of school early, though it was pointless for me to even go to school anyway.
"Hi mom," I said while getting into the car.
"Hey Kei, how are you feeling?" she asked.
"Fine," I replied.
It was two hours into our trip. I was listening to my music while looking out the window. I feel a tap on my shoulder and took my headphones off.
"Hey Kei, think you can get my purse from the back, I can't reach it," asked my mom, keeping her eyes on the road.
"Sure," I replied, twisting my body to find the purse.
I reached my arms out to try and grab the purse. I found where it was, but my arms couldn't reach it.
"Hey mom, can I unbuckle my seatbelt really quick, it's right there," I asked.
"Sure, but make it quick," she replied hesitantly.
I quicky unbuckled my seatbelt and grabbed her purse. I then twisted my body back into the seat and placed the purse on my lap. Before I could even put my seatbelt back, I heard my mom scream and I felt the car swerve.
I couldn't see what we hit, but I remember being ejected from my seat through the windshield and hitting whatever was in front of me. That's when everything went black.
