Chapter 4 ish

Jayfeather got to his paws, the scent of his new home filled his nose, even though he had healed he'd never left Cliffclan. Misty noticed he had awakened and quickly rushed over to him she purred "good morning Jayfeather, I've just finished my patrols I have some free time for a while, Would you like to share tongues?" Jayfeather faced her he nodded" yea sure", somehow he was starting to grow close to this she-cat, who knew how, it had just happened. They groomed each other now, her soft strokes comforting.

It was now the afternoon, The sun shone brightly in the sky, everything was peaceful and quiet, that is until the sound of dogs barking sounded growing closer and closer until two dogs entered the clearing cats began fighting the dogs, Jayfeather felt worry and unease worm through his pelt as he scented one of the bigger dogs fighting misty, he could smell the fresh scent of misty's blood his fur pricked, he rushed towards the dog hissing he barged into it, then he ran towards a gorge, the dog began following him, he could scent it, the other dog joined in as well, he had not just one dog after him but two.

Jayfeather had gotten distracted from the chase and as he reached the gorge his paws slipped and he fell with the dogs, he let out a surprised yowl, he thought for sure he would die but when his paws thudded to the ground, he was shocked, there was no pain pulsing through him, he rubbed his paw against it and sniffed the air, he'd landed safely on a cliff edge, not terribly far from the high ground, but still far enough that it would be hard to get back up. Jayfeather shuddered as he heard the dogs' bodies hit the ground far, far down. Jayfeather grumbled, he tried to feel for paw holds that would lead him back up, there was nothing.

Jayfeather grunted, starting to give up. He lay there, it's hopeless, he thought. he closed his eyes. In the distance he heard a voice, it was misty's, that's just my desperation speaking, he thought. Jayfeather woke up as rocks started to crumble and fall, he got to his paws trying his best to move out of the way of the rocks, he heard a sorrowful yowl from above, hard to distinguish above the sound of falling rocks. when the sound of falling rocks started to slow down, so did the yowl, instead, it was the sound of running growing distant, as the rocks stopped falling Jayfeather slowly went closer to the spot where he had been, there were new rocks there, he felt hope spark in his paws as each new rock had created a way up, He put his paws one then another until he had reached the clearing his paws comforted by the grass under his paws after all the stone.

When he got up his ears perked as he scented Misty's scent quite fresh, as if she'd been there only a few seconds ago, He followed the trail.

He'd hurried to catch up with the trail, but then the scent changed directions and they both headed for each other, she smiled and their pelts touched, she nuzzled him, he nuzzled her back, she put her head on his chest purring. Jayfeather meowed " I got lucky I landed on a cliff edge, not the bottom of the gorge, then there was a small avalanche which brought me rocks that helped me get back up." Misty purred "oh thank starclan your alive!"

Misty nuzzled him she purred "Jayfeather?" he meowed "yes?" MIsty purred " I've never told you this but, I love you Jayfeather"Jayfeather felt his fur prick with surprise, even more surprising, he'd realized he loved misty back "I love you too" he murmured he licked her forehead. Misty purred she smiled and they took in the moment together, nuzzling each other. Perhaps this is why he'd stayed in Cliffclan, now he definitely couldn't go back.

After the moment they had had together, they twined tails heading back for Cliffclan camp, he purred smiling facing her, and adoring her. Misty meowed " wait till the clan knows you are still alive they'll be so happy!" Jayfeather just kept on purring, he doubted this was true, but at least he had Misty, that's all he really needed.
