'New Directions! I would like to introduce you to our new show choir consultant- Jesse St. James.' Mr. Schue announced turning to face him.

expecting for everybody to clap, only Rachel did, until she was stopped by Mercedes.

'I don't trust this guy.' Finn paused. 'How do we know he's not just going to trick us into doing something stupid, so his alma mater wins?' he finished.

'I don't think I need to do much tricking to get you to do something stupid, Finn.' Jesse replied lowering his eyebrows.

'Guys, Jesse is just a consultant. I still make all the calls.' Schue assured us. 'Now, I have all the confidence in the world in you guys. I just think we could use all the help we can get.' he paused. 'Because...this is it.' he continued pointing at the board. 'We've been working so hard for two years for this moment, and that moment is finally here. Now, I was talking with Jesse, and he agreed that we should continue with our successful trend of doing original songs for the competition. I was thinking of doing one group number and one duet.' he explained.

'Rachel and I should sing a duet.' Finn suggested pointing to her. 'We killed it last year at Regionals with "Faithfully."

'Yeah, killed us- we lost.' Quinn sarcastically shook her head.

'May I?' Jesse questioned.

'Uh, yeah.'

'I agree that Rachel should sing lead, but Finn, I think it's best if you sit this one out. Fact is, most of the other guys in here are better singers.' he preached getting Finns attention. 'And Mike Chang, who can't even sing, can at least dance.' he shrugged. 'You kind of sing and dance like a zombie who has to poop.' he insulted looking directly at Finn earning giggles from the room.

'You-you see? You see what I'm talking about? This guy's a jerk!' Finn yelled.

'Jesse, maybe you could, uh, be a little bit gentler with your advice.' Schue nodded.

'Gentle? I'm sorry. I didn't realize that we were training for the "good try" ribbon at Nationals.' he ridiculed. 'I thought we were in it to win the whole damn thing. And there's only one way we can do that.' he lowered his voice.

'Poison darts?' Brittany asked rubbing her shoulder.

'The vocal adrenaline strategy is simple- identify your best performer and build the entire performance around them.' he expressed.

'So what does everyone else do?' Mercedes asked.

'And who's our star performer?' Puck interjected.

'We're going to have auditions to find out.' Schue sighed. 'I'm going to post a sign-up sheet later this afternoon.' he finished with uncertainty in his voice.

'Mr. Schue, don't you think this is kind of not our style?' Finn shook his head disagreeing.

'Normally, I'd agree with you Finn, but this is the big time. I think we should listen to Jesse.' Sam nodded turning his head to Finn, making Jesse plaster on a big smirk on his face.

••••••••••••••••••••

After agreeing that we would listen to Jesse by auditioning, I was taking it into consideration wether or not if I should audition. Santana, Mercedes, Rachel, and Kurt had already signed up, and the fact that it would be me competing against them made me even more nervous. They're all amazing singers.

'You signing up?' I heard a voice appear behind me, I turned around to see Sam raising his shoulders.

'Probably, not. i was thinking about it, but no, I definitely won't get it either way.' I shook my head no, fully turning myself to face him.
