Yuuji worries his lip in thought looking at you closely as he sees you turning away every now and then from your group of friends as your smile falters and become another person for mere seconds

Then he watches you turning back again smiling and joking around, it's unbelievable how you almost look genuinely happy but only yuuji was able to see through you, how spurious your smile is and all the wreckage behind it

All it took you is a beautiful fake smile to hide your injured soul and how they never noticed,everyone minding their own business never thinking of getting you out that rabbit hole

"(Name..)" yuuji softly calls out your name snatching your attention away from your group of friends, after all it was a celebration for you becoming a professional sorcerer now

"Yes yuuji?" You give him a bright smile,a smile brighter than his. "I want to—.."

A friend of yours interrupted him "(Name) looks beautiful tonight don't you think yuuji!?" They laugh and turn to look at you "How can you not see how beautiful you look tonight!" 

Yuuji looks from you to your friend as thoughts filled your head yet you shake it off with a small laughter 

"Are you okay..?" yuuji instantly asks once you two were away from everyone's eyes

he's your best friend,the most empathetic and understanding person you could ever ask for, you should—

"Yeah yuuji I'm okay,why the sudden question?"  you crack a tiny smile looking at his worried expression

"But..you don't look well (Name).."  you let out a loud breath shaking your head in denial  "yuuji I'm really oka—.."

"Please don't lie to me" you sigh in defeat,your lips trembling as you grip on your new clothes

"You know how I feel about all the compliments..all these stuff..about my body.." as you begin,yuuji gently holds your hand intently listening to you " I don't know what I'm thinking but I can't see it.." by now you're trying so hard to not burst out in tears

You find yourself getting dragged behind yuuji following him to your dorm and quickly entering after,he knows how much you hate being seen vulnerable around people..

Yuuji gets you to your bed seating himself beside you "Why can't I see me in the way that they all do? When I'm looking in the mirror why can't I tell myself I'm pretty..?"  you absentmindedly start talking while tears wells up blurring your vision

Yuuji only listens as you pour your emotions out in front of him "Why can't I see that I'm pretty..that it's all in my head yuuji?" By now you're sobbing between small gasps while aggressively trying to wipe your tears  "I'm sorry yuuji..I am sorry for pooping the party but let me this once.."

Your mind reminds you of all the things you went through as well. how you never asked someone to wipe your tears how you never woke up somebody to hug you when you freaked out seeing curses..you had lived your worst moments alone

"They say I'm made how I should be but yuuji,why can't I feel satisfied?" You lift your head looking at those shimmering golden eyes illuminated by the moonlight that crept in through the curtains

He's crying,tears rolling down his cheeks hearing every word you say " Can you wait here and listen.." you hold into his wrist when he tries to get up and yuuji clumsily wipes his tears using his sleeves "I don't want to depreciate all of the pretty ways you and everyone talk me down but I'm prone to hurt and.." you pause trying to breathe normally again

"I'm bound to break..I'm not good enough either..not like you or megu-.."  yuuji rapidly shakes his head gripping your hands tighter 

"Yes you are!"  Your eyes widen at his immediate response "No I—" your hands shake as your lips tremble the words out "no,maybe I'm not"

"Yes you are (name)!" Yuuji still protests even more pulling you closer to him as you lower your head refusing to meet his gaze as you weakly mumble "Maybe I'm not.."

"You are good enough.." yuuji gently cups your face looking at his doe eyes reflecting your face "I'm not,yuuji.."  your tears flood harder while biting on your lips in a miserable attempt to keep silent

"You are.." yuuji leans his forehead against yours,his hands still caressing your cheeks ever so gently "you're more than enough (Name)" despite how he also cried yuuji still spoke in his soft soothing tone

Your noses almost touch as you look at him with teary eyes " please allow me to.." yuuji carefully pulls you up and faces your body to the mirror

"Your body isn't perfect but neither is mine..your body doesn't have to be perfect to be loved.. you are here to be adored (Name).." yuji sighs once he sees you have calmed a bit

"You don't have to love your body for it to be be cherished because I know it's not something you can do overnight and gain self confidence..but I'm here for you aren't I?" You feel helpless listening to him talk

"I know you don't want to be convinced thats why I'll be here to make you realise how beautiful you are, (Name)" yuji steps back allowing you to look at yourself while skating his hands down your arms from behind you

"I just want to appreciate all of the pretty things
Without having to turn away..forgive me.." your heart sinks steadily until he tugs you into a tight embrace trying to soothe your aching heart then turns your around to face him making you focus on him instead "You're still figuring yourself out so.."

"please let me help you,if not me..then Kugisaki will for sure! We both actually will if you allow us.." he smiles warmly then gently wipe your tears off your face, his fingers calloused but so warm against your skin, giving you a sense of comfort and sincerity

You feel at ease and slowly you start to smile at him as yuji makes you sit on the bed and sits beside you then wrap his arms around you,holding you close to his chest letting you feel his rhyming heart along yours

i'm sorry for the emptiness in my mind the words that usually run amuck seem to have dried out an empty well sitting where a river used to flow

"It'll be alright,I promise you" yuuji whispers rubbing your back attempting to comfort you

Between the chaos inside you and your increasing pain,yuuji's existence has been the only thing preventing you from collapsing from so long, your only source of comfort and tranquility
