I walked over to my  horse and slid my fingers through her long black mane, brushing it out. Onyx let out a content sigh and lowered her head so I could brush the rest of her black body." I know girl, you were standing outside for so long, I'm sorry but I got caught up with a big ugly troll." I said in a baby voice that was just over a whisper so that my companions couldn't hear me. Onyx huffed, shoved her head into my satchel and sniffed. I chuckled " there's nothing in there girl, well except for some coins but you can't eat those." I continue to brush her mane when dandelion comes up to me on his small brown  horse. " Come on Koda, we should get going,"  he said in a sing - song voice. " fine" I grumbled and pulled myself onto Onyx and situated myself on her saddle. I leaned over to where her ear was and whispered " when we get into town I'll buy you some apples ok?" Onyx huffed and shook her head. Alright then let's go, the sooner we start the sooner I can get away from these people.  I snapped the reins and Onyx took off down the dirt path and into the forest. " Hey, wait for us! We're here too" I heard Dandelion yell while trying to catch up with us, Bandle just grumbled. Or what I thought was a grumble.  As Onyx's hoofs thump on the dirt path I lift my head and close my eyes and just bask in the sun and the wind. Eventually I opened my eyes and hollered over my shoulder to my companions " where are we meeting the old dwarf?"  " I think we should meet Him in the tavern where we first saw him" The bard yelled back, Bandle just mumbled a mmhmm. As the town came into view I pulled on Onyx's reins and she slowed down. As we reached the edge of the town I stopped Onyx and pulled myself off her saddle. I looked back to see my " friends " do the same thing. I then pulled out a small carrot from my bag and fed it to Onyx. Once she's finished I start to head towards the center of town pulling Onyx with me. As I headed toward the center of the small town I could hear the distinct chatter of the villagers and the soft thumps of their feet. I guess being an elf and having increased hearing does come in handy.     " hey!" I look over my shoulder to see Dandelion pointing to a tavern. It took me a second to realize it was the tavern that we had met in. I must've walked right past it. I huffed and spun to my right pulling Onyx with me. I walked to the side of the tavern where I found the stables. I walk Onyx to the closest bar and tie her black leather martingale to it. As I finish Onyx huffs and swings her head softly towards me, " I'll be right back, I promise you won't be tied up in this cold old stable for very long, I'm just getting my pay. Ok?" Onyx huffs and scrapes her hoof on the ground, kicking up dirt. I turn around and see Bandle leaning up against the entrance waiting for    Dandelion to finish tying up his horse. " alright!"  The bard breathed out while clapping his hands  together to remove the dirt. Bandle hummed and pushed off the wall he was leaning on and began to walk towards the front entrance. As I began to walk over by Bandle I caught a glimpse of something splintery and made of wood. It almost looked like a pile of old and dry firewood, then I noticed the elegant black pattern of leaves and vines that wrap around it. This is Dandelion's lute!... or what's left of his lute anyway. I hear the old and creaky wooden door open and snap back into reality.  I huff and speed walk to catch up with the others. As I got within earshot I heard Dandelion saying something " you know now that I think about it, the old dwarf never really where to meet him to get our pay..." he trailed off and then quickly snapped back when I briskly walked past him. As I walked into the doorway I got a whiff of Saberale which is a popular local drink. I swiftly walked up to the bar and sat down in the old leather stool that was the farthest from the other customers. I rapped on the counter in a attempt to get the bartenders attention. When I looked up noticed the bartender flirting with a brunette human on the other side of the bar table, telling her how beautiful she looked and how such a pretty thing like her shouldn't be in a dirty place like this. " Ugh" I deadpanned and rolled my eyes.  I cleared my throat in an another attempt to get his attention. Apparently the woman heard me and nodded her head at my direction while smiling, the bartender caught on and immediately hopped up and walked over to where I was sitting. " sorry 'bought that heh" he said while rubbing the nape of his neck. " it's fine" I grunted while placing a hand on the side of my face  and leaning on the counter. The bartender must have picked up my mood and hastily pulled out a small pad of lined paper and and a black fountain pen. " so...what can I get four you?"...Saberale or a couple shots?...damn which one?!... I must've been taking to long for the bartender because he was shifting from leg to leg, I finally got a good look at him. Not very tall, slim but not lanky, no beard or stubble as far as I can see. Though his curly red hair was all over the place his clothes were rather neat and not a single wrinkle in the gray fabric of his button up. " Just a cup of Saberale" I mumbled while still eyeing him. The bartender nodded and wrote it down and started to head over to where all the liquor was stored but before he could make it to the alcohol he was stopped by another customer. I sighed and shifted in my seat, as soon as I found a comfortable position I felt and arm sling around my shoulders.
