THE KING IS DEAD
His Majesty, Bennett of House Arcerea, King of this Realm by Grace of Arcanus and Protector of the Arcane, has passed away. He was 50.
The official announcement from the Palace said the King was found dead in the throne room last night. The Palace has refused to disclose further details, but they have assured the public that an investigation is ongoing.
Prince Alphonse, next in line to the Arcerean crown, has been immediately informed of his father's demise. He will be the second youngest prince to take the throne at the age of 27.
This morning, the Senate leadership met as soon as Senate President Victor Sorensen was informed of the news to discuss the accession of the crown prince. The Senate has also suspended its session today out of regard for the late monarch.
Ambassadors from the Yuan Empire, Eurosian Alliance, and Camerian Federation have offered their condolences to the Royal Family and to the Kingdom.
The body of King Bennett is to lie in state at the Starsong Hall from midweek until the funeral.
