HARRY'S POV
Madam Pomfrey told me to say in the hospital wing for the weekend. I had no problem though. And I also told her to not throw the fragments of my Nimbus 2000. I knew it was quite foolish of me because it was beyond repair, but it was an old friend of mine, and I didn't want to throw it away.
I had a lot of visitors. On Sunday, the whole Gryffindor team also came, including Wood, and he told me that he didn't blame me for the defeat.
I still haven't told Ron, Hermione and y/n about the grim. I knew that Ron would panic and Hermione would scoff. I am thinking of telling Y/n today. She said she'll come after lunch.
"Hey Harold!" Y/n said as she sat beside me, "How are you feeling?"
"Good now as you're here." I said.... Woah! Where did all that confidence came in me? She winked at me and said, "I know! I am the best!" chuckling.
She brought her songs notebook in which she writes her lyrics. She opened her notebook and started to write something.
After a short pause I slowly tried to tell her about the grim.
"Umm.... Y/n,"
"Yeah?" she said not looking up from her notebook.
"There's something I need to tell you." She looked up from her notebook and said, "What is it Harry?"
"On the match day, when I fainted, there's something I saw in the clouds... Before fainting, and before the dementors came...." I gave a pause.
"What?" she asked
"The Grim," her eyes widened at this, "a sort of cloudy figure of it appeared, and then disappeared."
She stayed quiet for a while and then finally spoke up,
"Harry, maybe it was because you were thinking about it a lot... Because as you described it, that it appeared and disappeared, I don't think it was real. But still take care.... And don't think about it anymore, Okay? And also don't tell Ron and Hermione about it, they will worry unnecessarily."
I smiled slightly.
"Wow, we think so same. I was going to tell you this only."
I returned to school on Monday. It was Defense against the Dark Arts and thank god, it was Lupin not Snape.
-
"Wait a moment, Harry," Professor Lupin called, as the class ended "I'd like a word."
"I heard about the match, and I'm sorry about your broomstick. Is there any chance of fixing it?"
"No," I said, "The tree smashed it to bits."
"Did you hear about the dementors too?" I asked slowly.
"Yes, I did. I don't think any of us have seen Professor Dumbledore that angry. They have been growing restless for some time.... I suppose they were the reason you fell?"
"Yes," I said, "Why? Why do they affect me like that? Am I just — ?"
"It has nothing to do with weakness," said Professor Lupin sharply. It was like he read my mind.
"The dementors affect you worse than the others because there are horrors in your past that the others don't have." he paused and then continued,
"Dementors are among the foulest creatures that walk this earth. They infest the darkest, filthiest places, they glory in decay and despair, they drain peace, hope, and happiness out of the air around them. Even Muggles feel their presence, though they can't see them. Get too near a dementor and every good feeling, every happy memory will be sucked out of you. If it can, the dementor will feed on you long enough to reduce you to something like itself.... soulless and evil. You'll be left with nothing but the worst experiences of your life. And the worst that happened to you, Harry, is enough to make anyone fall off their broom. You have nothing to feel ashamed of."
