Your POV
The outer banks paradise on earth right. Maybe to them but not to me I left when I was five years old. My family moved to the mainland. They say it was to give me a better life.

Now I'm 18 and it's been about 13 years since I've been back. It hasn't changed much at all. I was supposed to come back to help my grandma move into a nursing home. She was selling her house so my family had to fix it up. Which means I had to help too.

"We are staying with the Thornton's" Mom said packing up grandmas things. "As in Topper the kid from grade school Mom" I said. "He's a nice young man Y/N" Mom said. "Alright but am I allowed to have a car here" I asked. "Ask Topper honey we need the car" Mom said.

"We hardly spoke I mean I have his number Mom but still" I said. "Well I think you should go make some friends"Dad said. "Yeah better than just standing here" I said walking away. I walked to the country club. Old guys were on the porch cat calling me.

"You wish" I said they started laughing. I walked in and took a seat by myself. A couple young people my age looked at me. Not knowing who I was. They whispered to themselves as usual.

"Y/N L/N" a familiar voice said. He walked over it was Topper. He had definitely changed a lot since I last saw him. He lost the stupid little haircut his mom made him get.

"Topper" I said. "So you just got in then didn't you guys" he said sitting across from me. "Yes and my parents are practically boring so I came here" I said sipping my water. "You definitely look different" Topper said. "What's that supposed to mean" I said.

"You uh grew into those ears" Toppers said I laughed. "You dropped the goofy haircut" I said. Someone else walked over. I kinda thought it was Rafe Cameron. I had a big crush on him when I was a kid.

"Rafe you remember Y/N" Topper said. "The girl with the funny outfits of course" Rafe said. "Hey hey that was one time" I said. "Just be careful of the pogues" Rafe said putting a hand on my shoulder. "Who" I said.

Rafe pointed to the waiter with blonde hair. He looked over and smiled on me.

"That's JJ I'd definitely stay far away" Topper said. "Why" I said. "Have you seen the news lately here" Rafe said. "I uh just got here" I said. "A pogue shot the sheriff" Rafe said. "Oh you mean John B" I said. "Yeah anyways nice seeing you" Rafe said leaving.

"So wanna go for a drive the island has changed a bit" Topper said. "Sure I'd love too" I said. We walked over to his Jeep. "Wow ok I see you" I ssod he laughed. "What's so funny" Topper said. "I was expecting a Range Rover or maybe a BMW" I said.

"No no just get in Y/N" Topper said I hopped in the passenger seat. "Alright you are the driver so show me around" I said. "You are lucky you're cute by the way" he said I blushed. "Just drive you dork" I said.
