Dear Zed,

I miss you tons! I can't wait to see you when I get back. I'm sorry if I'm bothering you...Maybe after camp we can hang out? Cheer camp has been so fun! Bucky has been working us SO HARD! You'd be excited to hear that the Zombies who joined the team are doing AMAZING!! I'm so glad that we finally got to have them join our squad. Say hi to Eliza for me! See you soon! Can't wait to hear from you :)

I sighed as I finished sealing up the pink envelope. I trudged over to the small makeshift mailbox and dropped it through the dark cut out hole in the box. Letter number 5...I tried to shake off my bitterness on the fact that Zed hadn't written back at all...to any of my letters. I watched as the paper disappeared into the darkness, falling on top of other camper's letters to their family and friends. "Oooooooooooooooh any luck with Zed and the mail?" Bree gushed as she bounced over to me. I plastered on a smile. "No.. but that's okay! I'm sure that he's just busy with....something..." I say trying to sound positive. Bree seems to notice my cheerlessness. "Awe Addie...." She gives my shoulders a squeeze. I smile halfheartedly. "Don't worry. I'm sure things will work out." I nod and look out at the shady forest of trees. "Yeah...hopefully..." I mumble. I couldn't push the feeling of annoyance that had seemed to creep into me this week. Zed and I seemed to hit it off so well last year...But since cheer camp started Zed kinda went off the grid. I hated to admit it but the spark that I'd felt between us last year had seemed to be fading. Just the slightest bit. I knew I couldn't jump to conclusions about why Zed hadn't been writing me back.

The rest of the week flew by. Unfortunately no mail came. Finally it was time to head back to Seabrook. We boarded the bus and started driving. I heard Bree sigh next to me. Snapping myself out of my thoughts I see her stealing a longing glance behind her. I follow her gaze to the tall boy a couple rows behind us. Bonzo. I can't help the smile that finds its way onto my face. "So.." I start. Bree jumps a little. I laugh at the look on her face. "You and Bonzo?" I tease. Her face reddens a little bit. My smile widens. "Yeah he's really sweet....except lately he's been avoiding me..." I roll my eyes and choke back a small laugh. Where have I heard that before?I looked back at Bonzo and noticed that he was staring at Bree but looked away when he noticed I saw. I shook my head. "Don't worry, besides we're almost.......there..."I trailed off as I noticed a sign. Addison Will You  we drove a little more and Bree and I saw another series of wooden signs unfurled. Go To The Prawn Bree and I looked at each other in excitement. The whole bus was buzzing with chatter. My excitement was cut off by the shrill sound of the Acey squad's screams. I looked up and to my horror was Zed standing on a ladder. The next thing I knew there was a thud and Zed and the ladder were gone! But we were still moving!! I started to panic. We had hit Zed! I heard another loud thump and looked out the window. "Zed!" I cried in relief. I put my hands against the cold glass. His pale face lit up and he placed his hand on the window as well. My heart swelled at the gesture. Almost as soon as he appeared he was gone. Jerked away as the crazed bus hit another bump. The bus lurched forward causing us all to become pinned against our seats. My breath caught in my throat as we swerved off the road towards the thick line of trees. I felt a scream escape my throat. The fence. We were going to hit the fence. I squeezed my eyes shut willing us not to crash. We slammed into the wire fence causing the bus to finally slam into a pile of dirt and branches. When the bus stopped no one moved. Everyone was frozen in fear. I looked around to make sure that no one was hurt. "Is everyone okay?" My hands shook a bit. The only answer was Lacey's whimpering. She and Bucky were huddled together in the front row of seats. With a loud shriek Bucky ran down the aisle flailing his arms. Throwing open the emergency door he jumped and shouted "NOTHING CAN HAPPEN TO ME I'M TOO IMPORTANT!!!!" I rolled my eyes. Typical Bucky. My cousin was so full of himself and self inflated. As much as his overinflated ego and self centered behavior bugged me, I was grateful at least that he had gotten a little better. I looked around at the current situation, I could see the fear and confusion alight in people's eyes. I stood up carefully. "Everyone stay calm." I tried to sound as calm and as confident as possible. But inside I was a mess. "Great leadership Addie." Bree encouraged. I smiled, I was glad that my efforts were progressing. "Very future-cheer-captain of you!" She giggled. I brightened at her words. Being cheer captain had always been my dream. Hearing someone say that I had great leadership skills that were good enough to be a possible captain made me swell with pride. My smile widened. I hoped that one day I could be at that position. It felt impossible though. Bucky and his Acey squad seemed to squash my dream as much as they could. As long as they were around there was no way I'd be getting the position of Cheer Captain. My eyes widened as a thought struck me. "Zed!" I exclaimed. I bolted out of the bus and into the woods desperate to check to see if he was okay.

The woods around me hummed with mystery. I couldn't stop thinking about what had happened. Did Zed not write me because he was planning to ask me to Prawn as a surprise? Was he going to be okay? I was jolted from my thoughts by a sharp pain in my left shoulder. "Ow." I muttered. I grabbed my shoulder and threw a look behind me. Thankfully the culprit was only a pine tree branch. I exhaled a breath of relief. I felt little peace knowing that it was the branch. I felt the hair on the back of my neck tingle. Goosebumps fled up my arms as a soft whispering caught my attention. I whirled around trying to see what had made the noise. "Who's there!?" I demanded, still gripping my shoulder. I wasn't surprised when I didn't get an answer. I slowly began walking in a small circle trying to pinpoint the sound. A cold sweat beaded on my forehead. I couldn't shake the feeling that I wasn't alone. My heart began to race and icelike fingers traced my spine causing me to shiver. "Zed?" I tried hopefully, knowing in my heart it wasn't him. I heard the whisper turn into a quiet growl. I spun around. "Who's there?" My voice came out less confident and calm. My heart pounded against my chest. "Hello?" I asked, craning my neck as I heard the sound of twigs snapping. "Can anybody hear me?" I asked, my feet frozen in fear of what lay beyond the curtains of forest. "Zed!?" I called out louder this time. I heard another rustle in the trees and saw a flick of movement. I whipped my head towards the noise and movement. This was it.....C'mon Addison be brave... I craned my neck to try and see what was there. I inhaled a sharp breath. It was a person! Whoever it was must have guessed I spotted them because they darted away quickly. I heard a faint whistle in the distance. I spun around again, my heart racing faster and faster as the eerie quiet of the forest weighed down like a smothering box of silent weight. Could noise hold weight? Now was not the time to worry about that. The sound of rustling leaves and breathing got louder. I could see bits and pieces of the strange person who was hiding in the trees. I was so focused on trying to make out the rest of the figure that I barely noticed two more people appear behind me. The growling got louder. Spinning around I finally got a good glimpse of the original person following me. So many noises rise up around me. It feels like every way I turn there's another mysterious person encircling me. Out of the shadowy trees emerges a girl with curly black hair.  A white streak stands out in stark contrast. My pulse quickens, She has white hair too! I'm mesmerized by this strange girl. Her eyes seemed to glow amber, and her skin was adorned with intricate tattoo-like symbols. She threw back her head and....howled? Werewolfs....I felt my heart skip a beat. The girl's necklace shone a bright blue and seemed to glow and pulse with a lively energy. I was transfixed by the strange sight. I had never seen werewolves before, only Zombies and the people of Seabrook. The girl and the others looked very different in so many ways. Her teeth were sharp and white. And her clothes were interesting. She had worn a navy blue fitted dress with a fur vest. Her nails were long and pointed, and on her cheek looked like a makeshift tattoo of random symbols. My heart was in my throat as they all melted back into the shadowy forest. I didn't dare blink. I was petrified.

Suddenly a large hand clamped down on my shoulder. I screamed, spun around and slapped the person. "Ah!" He cried. My eyes widen as I realized it was just Zed. "Zed!" I exclaimed happily. A worm of bitterness still ate away at me but I did my best to suffocate it. I threw my arms around him and hugged him. He laughed at my excitement. "I missed you too." Then why didn't you write me back?  I bit back the comment that fluttered to the surface of my mind. He was busy. I thought to myself trying harder to push down the guilty bitterness I felt. "Addison!" I heard a voice cry. I looked down just in time to see a blur of green barrel towards me. "Zoey!" I smiled. I had a sweet spot for Zed's sister. She was such a doll and had the cutest personality. My smile instantly fades when I remember the girl with the amber eyes. "We're not alone." I say gravely. Zed seems confused. "What's wrong?" I swallow the lump in my throat. "Werewolves." I said quietly. "WHAT!?" I whirled around. Behind me stood a very terrified Acey squad. Behind them was the rest of the cheerleaders. I cringed. So much for keeping that quiet. "WOLVES!?" Lacey shrieked. "WHAT WOLVES!?" Added Jacey with equal fear in his voice. "WEREWOLVES!" The three of them cried together. Everyone started pulling out their phones to spread the word. "Nobody's going to believe this." Zed mumbled.
