The next day Caleb awoke to the smell of pancakes. He leapt out of his bed to meet the priest and get a plate. “Thank you,” Caleb quickly sat on a chair to dig in.

“Your parents really raised you right. Few people are as polite as you. Especially anyone around my age!” The priest bellowed in laughter before having a coughing fit at their joke while Caleb sat eating the food in front of them. “Don't mind my old humor.”

“I saw someone trapped in a concrete sand castle yesterday, why didn't anyone help them? Many others walked by but no one did anything.”

“Hmm? Oh guess you already have seen the effects of the lab here. Poor souls, those Supers. Being hunted down by people wanting to figure out how they became how they are by any means necessary. Sorry you already had to see that already.”

       “Supers?”

“That’s what most people call them other than mutants. Such an ugly word for powers that cause no harm. I've seen more good come from those than bad. I wish I could help them, but those who interfere usually get hurt; some worse than others.”

“I freed them while no one was around. I checked carefully before I did.”

“How did you do it? Did you pick the lock or something?”

“I used my fire ability to melt the bars,” Caleb looked up slowly to read the expression on the priest’s face.

The priest nodded to themselves then smiled, “I’m happy to have done my part to help a Super then. And good on you for helping, not many people would do the same. Just be sure that you really are careful. There are people who wouldn't hesitate to hurt a child.” Caleb looked down remembering the lab he was trapped in. Other people going through the same thing hit home for him. It hadn’t even been a full day since he escaped his own laboratory with the help of Joseph. He mentally decided to help out all that he could. He also felt as if it was his responsibility as well being the Favourite of Nature.

Caleb stood up as soon as he finished, “Thanks for your advice. I’ll see you soon!” The priest grinned at him as they watched Caleb climb up and out.

Caleb looked about him trying to figure out which way to go before looking at his compass. He continued onwards towards what he knew would be helping others. His compass led towards the outskirts of town where there were empty fields barely even touched and where animals roamed free. Before it though was a large mansion and a smaller building behind it of an unknown purpose.

Caleb decided to turn invisible and head over under the nose of anyone who might be looking over. He looked about him before he teleported inside to see what there was. He felt a pang in his chest seeing a bunch of people around in a giant cage. The beds inside looked comfy enough though. He walked around more to get a feel for everything and to make sure he didn't miss anything. In the corner of the room he saw another person trapped in a smaller cage by themselves. Looking around, he quickly ran over to see the lone person.

“Hey,” Caleb whispered, causing them to jump. “Shh! I’m here to help!”

“Who and where are you?” They asked.

“Not safe to show I think but I’m here beside you. I’ll tell you my name later when we’re both out of here. Do you trust me?”

“I kind of have to, don't I?” Caleb let out a small chuckle at that. “You will save the rest of them right?”

“Of course, you seemed the easiest for a first rescue. Plus if you’re separated, you must be more powerful than the rest and could lead them away when I’m tired. Enough talk, you never know when we could be found. Your hand please?” They extended their hand outwards slowly which Caleb quickly grabbed and teleported outside to the road in front. “This is the farthest I can go currently. I’ll be back in a flash!” Caleb teleported into the cage with everyone else and looked for a good place to start. “Uh… hey! I'm here to save you all. Reach your hands forward and I’ll grab as many as I can. Don't worry if you aren’t taken first, I’ll make enough trips fast enough to get you out.” Those around him looked skeptical, but were desperate enough to believe anything. He started to make quick work of getting those trapped out. He soon found that his energy was running low and was getting a massive headache from all the warps in and out. He took a deep breath and continued until there were only a few left inside. He sighed of relief as he gripped the last hands. At that moment though, a scientist decided to walk in seeing the place empty and outstretched arms.

“Hey! Stop!” they called out but to no avail as Caleb already was outside.

“We need to move now!” Caleb called out. “A scientist is inside, probably warning the others, we have to go!” All of them started running towards the city centre before Caleb started to get even weaker. He released his invisibility not long before he stumbled and fell onto the ground, barely caught in time by someone with quick reflexes. “I can’t stay awake anymore… my head… oh my head…” From there it started to turn black as he slowly lost consciousness.

Before he did he heard, “What?! He’s just a kid? If I would’ve known I-”
